This is by far the best you're going to get at this price (I paid 70 bucks I think and still like it).
These have DTS and Dolby Digital as well as HDMI pass through and bluetooth. You're getting a lot for $29.
Edit: Forgot to add if you have Roku, this makes it so your Roku remote can control this, no need for the additional remote.

I have the Alto 7 connected thru hdmi arc that was clearanced last year and I've never had an issue with silence or delay. Initially there was an issue with sound level but it was troubleshot in that thread as bad manual instructions. Manual neglects to tell you to cycle thru the tv output for a digital one that sounds best iirc PCM you can tell the difference pretty easily as the one to use i.e. 40 being room filling vs 99 and being muffled, the main complaint in bad reviews about the altos I suspect was cuz of that missed setting adjustment. Also iirc I think you had to set the audio output as well to hdmi arc, sorry it's been over a year since i did it. Take a look at the old thread for the trouble shooting suggestions it was kohls $40 Alto 7. Hope this helps you with the 8 and anyone buying this 6 to try and do some toggling to see if that fixes any problems. p.s. audio delay can also be adjusted in audio settings menu

Yea my alto 8 does. This is still a decent deal for a dorm or something
I have the Alto 8i and it's amazingly good at the recent $100 sale price. I experience zero issues that you described, perhaps you received a lemon.
