They are great but I will say a stand is a must, at least for the 52 yr old! I bought the Nordictrack stand, it's half the price and works (use straps to secure the weight mounts).

It's a space saver. If you have enough space for a weight rack and all combination of weights, this will not add much value. Also note that you can't drop these from a height of you are struggling etc. They are delicate compared to normal dumbbells. But if you have a small house or no room for 10 pairs of weights, this is awesome.
