they are the first apps I install on any new device, before I install any Apps.

For others who are looking for free options I used a free Alltrails account for day hiking Zion and Bryce national parks in January over about 10 days. I downloaded all planned hiking routes for free from Alltrails onto my Garmin 945 before going out for hikes. I used the free National Park app on my phone that includes GPS tracking on a map. One could download PDF maps from the national park's website onto their phones. Most trails were very easy to follow without a map for most of the trail. We mostly used maps to just see how far along the trail we were at times and estimate when we would complete the trail.

In some of my searches, I did see that AllTrails may have a couple trails that I could not find in Hiking Project, but not enough to make me think that paying was worth it.
(Don't mean to TC, just answering a question)

Have you ever clicked a link and the page comes up bam! instantaneously? That page does little or no communication with other sites, as described here. Some sites take a long time, often because they are doing things like sharing your data.
As for checking on something as you say, it would help to know if the property is federal, state, local or private but as far as I remember Alltrails does not help with that. It would help to know who is responsible for the property, correct? And Alltrails does not help with that, correct? Well of course doing a property search for private property is probably asking too much but they could at least have a database of federal, state and local properties open to the public.

see my sig for browser extensions. You need to configure the Applications to set it up, just installing them won't do anything (including the uBlock / uMatrix extension).
As an update, after reinstalling the HikingTrails App on new phone, it appears they too have calls out to facebook -- but it still does not stop working if all the trackers and adware is blocked (like Alltrails).
HikingTrails supports offline Maps and a cool elevation feature -- it was great for the 2 months I spent wandering the mountains of CO. Alltrails has more "reviews" though, if you're looking to gather info on potential trails.
