Posting this deal to mainly highlight the need for an appropriate usb reader that supports UHS-I DDR208 protocol allowing over 100MB/s read and write speeds for these 2021 EVO select and PRO Sd cards on sale this week. Previously only Sandisk Extreme pro used this protocol to achieve up to 170MB/s read speeds and also needed a new sandisk reader. Most devices and built in card readers in laptops and usb/thunderbolt dock only support UHS-I DDR104 and only up to 100 MB/s read speeds.

On sale for Black Friday:

Samsung Pro+ 128GB with USB A microsd card reader for up to 160MB/s Read/120MB/s Write

Amazon SD card and Reader $27.99 [amazon.com]. Shipping is free w/ Prime or on orders of $25+.

Samsung SD card and Reader $27.99 [samsung.com]. Shipping is Free.

Features:

With superfast U3, class 10 rated transfer speeds of up to 160MB/s¹,²and UHS-I Interface³ big apps load and run smoothly, while 4K video remains sharp with A2, V30, and UHS-I Interface

Main differences from the Amazon Evo Select 128GB [amazon.com] currently on sale for $15.99 with Free Shipping

1. Pro has faster read up to 160 Read /120 MBps write (instead of 130 read MB/s with write not listed for EVO select)
2. Pro deal includes the microsd card reader which supports the DDR208 protocol and allows the over 100 MB/s fast read and write speeds.

The Samsung card reader are not sold by themselves and only packaged with Samsung Pro plus cards. Only the 128GB and reader package is discounted right now on Amazon and Samsung.

Alternative Lexar microsd USB A card reader [amazon.com] that supports the DDR208 protocol these cards use to achieve faster read/write $11.99. Can be used for any microsd UHS-I card brand now listing read and write speeds over 100 MB/s using UHS-I (most previously needed UHS II to achieve faster speeds)

Question for everyone, with Samsung SADLY killing of the SD card in the Galaxy mobiles, what are most people using SD cards for now? Switch?
I still rocking with Note9 that support SD card. Secretly hoping they will revive the next phone with SD card..... obviously dreaming.

I mostly use the SD card in security cam now.
That's true and a good point, but I think the OP was trying to address a bigger issue that involves both this card AND the Evo Select. namely that you might not be getting the rated speeds without a card reader, depending on your situation, of course.
Here's the first part of what OP wrote:
"Posting this deal to mainly highlight the need for an appropriate usb reader that supports UHS-I DDR208 protocol allowing over 100MB/s read and write speeds for these 2021 EVO select and PRO Sd cards on sale this week."
BTW, I'm pretty sure the EVO Select cards are rebadged versions of existing Samsung cards, an Amazon exclusive label, that has allowed Amazon to sell the same for cheaper without canabalizing Samsung's sales elsewhere. That's the impressive I've had and it's why the Select cards have been an excellent value.

Little cheaper with Samsung EPP $26.59

I don't need another card, but I do like high transfer speeds.

I write media files to uSD to play on my tablet or phone and appreciate fast writes.

Transferring to device direct by USB or wifi is so much slower.

Good to know 'bout the reader situation. TU.Repped!
Kind of defeats the idea of leaving the card in my ultrabook, or at least defeats the idea of paying more for a fast card, maybe.
I wonder about my old camera too. Recently bought a similarly rated SD card, hoping it would speed up my camera reaction time, but don't notice a difference.

How does the Pro+ stack up to the Pro Endurance in terms of longevity? I assume the latter is still king in that space? Would like to have a better SD card for my Raspberry Pi.

I'm still using them in my phones, and I just don't buy phones that lack micro SD support. Though I hope micro SD support doesn't follow the path of removable batteries in phones, where once almost everything had it, and now almost nothing does. It's a shame how far Samsung has fallen since the Note 4, in a lot of ways. :-\

I also use them in tablets, digital cameras, Raspberry Pi, headphones, & Nintendo Switch.

Thank you. Yes it was to have a thread to point out unless people get a new USB reader supporting the uhs-I ddr208 protocol most people won't see a difference for sustained transfer or write speeds in most devices when comparing the older Samsung green line vs newer blue line of Evo select (same with pro lines) and should just buy the cheaper one.

There are some reviews looking at the random write speeds showing faster speeds at queue depth 1 using the new card reader and SD cards but I couldn't find any reviews that indicated whether that improvement still existed with current uhs-I 104 card readers or devices/phones.
