It works OK. The sweet spot for snow removal is 4-6 inches. Under 3 it's really hard to gather enough snow to throw. I either leave it be or break out the leaf blower. Over 6 and the machine bogs down, so I try to clear in shifts. I say this generalizing heavy, wet mid-atlantic snow. It performs great with powder. I just don't see powder that often. I find it way easier to push this around than remove snow from 150' of driveway.
For extension cords, the gauge is VERY important. This motor is 15 amps. If you use a lighter duty extension cord, the motor is starved for amps and it heats up the circuit. You'll end up cooking the motor or starting a fire.
So first you need to figure out your maximum run from a power source. Then choose the gauge appropriate for that length.
To help:
14 gauge: Good for up to 50'
12 gauge: Good for up to 100'
10 gauge: Good for up to 150'
There are a few US companies making extension cords and they are cost competitive with the imported stuff. So seek them out. Southwire and US Wire are what I have. There might be others.
Many extension cords have a cold rating, meaning that they are still flexible in lower temps. I don't have any cold rated cables and they work fine. Yeah...they're a little stiff, but I think that might make it easier to throw the cable around and keep it out of my snow thrower's path.
One feature that I find really nice is to have a lighted end. That way if I'm using it at night it's often easier to find the end.

Does anyone have any opinion on corded vs. battery ? Is it worth the additional 100?

I looked at reviews on Amazon and it turns out a lot of other people had the exact same problem, and many people also complained of getting shocked, serious shocks, while using the snow blower.

Avoid snow joe snow blower, it won't last. I had the older model without the led light, the pulley that's attach to the snow auger is made out of plastic will strip off if it got stuck in heavy wet snow. the replacement is hard to find. So avoid them. search YouTube on "snowjoe pulley", there will be many of similar issue. They don't built to last, it broke after I used it for less than 5 times.
AND, if U don't get around to the heavy wet stuff until after any of it freezes, forget it. Ice chunks or other debris will ruin this machine PDQ. You've been warned.
Get fluid film from your local auto parts store. Works wonders to keep snow off and lasts. About $10-12 a can and we'll worth it
