The v10 is more powerful then the v8. However this version of the v8 comes with the fluffy head attachment only, which is what you'd use on hardwood floors. The v10 through Costco is the animal which does not include the fluffy head attachment and comes with the torq cleaning head. The dyson absolute models come with both heads. You can purchase the individual attachment but that can also get expensive. It just depends on what your main purpose for the vacuum is IMO. For me when I purchased my cordless I wanted both the fluffy and torq heads since my house has most hardwood but the bedrooms had carpet.

UcanTry did a very good job on the differences between Absolute, Fluffy, and Animal variants of the same model. On V8 vs V10: I've used both, they're both good. V10 has an improved canister design that both holds more dirt and is easier to empty without making a mess. The V10 has a bit more power and battery life, but it's not a huge difference. The V10 has 3 suction settings instead of the V8's two settings.
