Project Farm on YouTube did a review of several 18V vacs including this model. It sacrifices suction power to achieve HEPA quality. I noticed it's weaker than my Milwaukee but I don't have to worry about silica dust getting past the filter either.

I took the bag off mine and it upped auction power. I still leave the bag on though.

Anyone use this with their (Makita) drywall sander? I'm looking for a vacuum to use exclusively with the drywall sander for drywall dust

I got the Ryobi one and I saw a YT review on 4 of them and the Ryobi beats this one I think in a few categories. I already had 4ah batteries so when it was on sale for $50ish was a no brainer (3gal as vs 2)

I just got my Ryobi 3gal last week($60 from DirectTools). I love the portability and functionality so far. I have the 6gal as well. I'm very invested in the Dewalt and Ryobi battery eco system.

You need a HEPA dust extractor if you're going to be working with fine dust, one with a "filter self cleaning" feature.
You can use a shop vac with a dust stopper/dust cyclone on a 5 gallon bucket as a poor man's dust extractor until a deal on an extractor pops up someday.

Hose adapter I'll give you - it's a pain to find the right one, I still haven't figured out which one is right for my lxt miter saw.

But pre filter comes with it... it's basically a microfiber hoodie that goes over the actual hepa filter. you could easily make your own if you really wanted to, too.

shoulder strap... i got tons of these... if i really needed it id just pull it from any number of my other makita things. just take it off a duffle bag if you hafta. i don't use the strap at all, it is light enough to just hold in my hand.

this one has a hepa filter. I think it would do just fine, esp with the pre filter.

It might work but probably not well.

OSHA requires a minimum of 25 CFM per inch of grinding/sanding/cutting wheel diameter. For example, if you are using a 5" angle grinder to polish concrete, then you need 5 times 25 CFM, or 125 CFM for sufficient dust extraction.

This vacuum only has 27 CFM. It barely moves any air at all. A $50 shop vac at Home Depot is hitting nearly 150 CFM.
