Just got an email from Microsoft inviting me to buy the XBox X available in limited quantities on Microsoft Online Store.
You have to bundle a game and a controller and it all came out to $720.
I was able to buy one for the delivery date of 12/22

No definitive answer. I believe I got the email because I made a purchase in the past from the Microsoft Store (and somehow opted in to receving their promotional emails).

The only emails Microsoft ever sends me is to renew my Office 365 subscription.
They put so many holds and cancels on my card, I was beginning to wonder. In the end the final payment was processed earlier this week and the XBox arrived today via UPS.
Now I need to vacate an HDMI slot on my receiver

Despite having bought an Xbox One X and several digital games from Microsoft directly I think some people are just shut out of this for some reason.
In the last day or so Xbox Series X stock has held on some websites for longer than usual. Perhaps after the Christmas rush they'll bring back standard ordering. I've got all my money for the console stuck on the Microsoft store as a result of getting that credit from Gamestop. So I'll have to wait until it happens.
