No, it's 100% e-reader with the ability to bluetooth audiobooks. You can buy ebooks from Amazon with it but that's about it.

It's an e-ink display, not LCD. It's no different than reading the page on a book, except that you can modify the font, typeface size, spacing, boldness, and pretty much anything.

The paperwhite e-link reader, so much easier on the eyes. If you are going to use it strictly for reading pleasure, yes it worths over a billion times more than the base kindle.

For those whose considering this deal. The paperwhite kid edition (was/still going) might be a better deal, because you get a cover and removal of ad(saving you the trouble to chit chat with cs to get it removed instead) for $10 more. Mine have arrived yesterday, couldn't be more happier, especially with the updated features along with the modern type c charging port.
Thanks, I've had my eye on this waiting for a BF price drop. Definitely preferable over the entry-level Kindle with USB-C and the better screen. Also an additional $15 off if you're able to activate the Chase promo (even $1 worth of Chase points will work.) Repped.
The paperwhite from before this one came out in 2018, 3 years ago, not last year.

The differences are as follows:

1) The new Paperwhite has a 6.8" screen vs 6" on the older model.
2) The new Paperwhite has a USB-C charging port vs Micro-USB
3) The new Paperwhite has color temp adjustments for the backlight
4) The new Paperwhite has substantially more leds for the backlight for more uniform backlighting (5 leds vs 17 leds)

Whether these are worthwhile upgrades to you will depend. To me the usb-c alone is enough for it to be worthwhile.

Does anyone know if the Kindle trade-in 20% off discount can be applied retroactively?

They're being weird and evasive about this. It's really frustrating that Amazon is changing this policy

Does anyone know if you get to keep your notes/highlights from books you read during the 4 months of complementary Kindle unlimited that you don't purchase once the trial ends? Thanks!

I bought the base Kindle a few weeks ago for $50
It's my first Kindle so I can't really compare it to others.
For those of you familiar with both, is the paper white worth the extra $55?

If you can trade in an old one the 20% + credit *should* stack with the old one. So that makes it a pretty cheap upgrade. The warm light is nice

Can you still get 20% off + trade in value if you have an old Amazon echo but not a kindle to trade in?

That's good advice. Even the less expensive non Amazon branded cases are going to be more than $10

I have the previous gen paper white and I love it. The back lit screen makes a huge difference and I love mine. I like mine enough that I see no need to upgrade to the new gen but if new gen drops to $70 or so I may upgrade.

Sweet deal and have been hoping for it! I was able to snag one for $53.99 BEFORE taxes!!

Traded in my old 2018 Ad-supported Kindle Paperwhite. Amazon gave me $30 trade-in credit for it. Plus 20 percent off this current sale price (making it $83.99). Subtract $30 gift card as well, $53.99!

Fantastic deal for those trading in!
