For those whose considering this deal. The paperwhite kid edition (was/still going) might be a better deal, because you get a cover and removal of ad(saving you the trouble to chit chat with cs to get it removed instead) for $10 more. Mine have arrived yesterday, couldn't be more happier, especially with the updated features along with the modern type c charging port.
The differences are as follows:
1) The new Paperwhite has a 6.8" screen vs 6" on the older model.
2) The new Paperwhite has a USB-C charging port vs Micro-USB
3) The new Paperwhite has color temp adjustments for the backlight
4) The new Paperwhite has substantially more leds for the backlight for more uniform backlighting (5 leds vs 17 leds)
Whether these are worthwhile upgrades to you will depend. To me the usb-c alone is enough for it to be worthwhile.

Yes, some people may get it instantly based on god knows what algorithm they use behind the scenes, but that's not the norm, and expecting that to be reality when Amazon is clear on the expectation seems a bit weird.

Don't have kids, just for my use.
I believe they just got scammed by too many people pretending to go through the trade-in process just to get the discount and then they never actually sent anything in.
So now it's Select accounts only .

Regardless, they know by their shipping tracker that it's already traded in, and they're keeping it either way, so it makes no sense I don't have my coupon yet.
