This is the original with an adjustable stand. The MK.2 version has a fixed angle, uses a detachable usb-c cable and has faceplate support, but it's not functionally different.

Yep, that's it - it's a customizable/programmable keyboard device. $100 for 15 keys.

An alternative is an Android tablet running an app like Touch Portal or Unified Remote. If you have an old tablet lying around you're not using much this is an alternative to do the same thing.

I use Touch Portal and it works very good plus I can use the same tablet for other things.

Touch Portal will do anything Stream Deck will do plus it doesn't have the limitations of the hardware keys - you can set up as many buttons in Touch Portal as you can fit on the screen. On my 10" tablet I have Touch Portal set up with an 8 wide x 7 grid of keys (1" x 5/8" sized keys) = 48 keys. And you can make as many different screens with different key configurations as you like. That capability alone makes it better than the Stream Deck.

Regardless of the marketing the Stream Deck's "tactile feedback" isn't important as you're not touch typing on a vertically angled device on a stand.

I can use this to make different angles and shots from multiple web cams while live streaming or recording video? I'd be using it for a podcast to switch cameras between whomever is speaking.

you could also use an old tablet no? an old tablet w their app. i think their app is $2.99 per month for full features.

nvm best to use on phone, tablet app is just scaled from the phone version. it still works but doesn't look as nice

Hopefully Corsair/ Elgato have a Loupedeck Live competitor in the oven. The Loupedeck software isn't as robust as the Streamdeck software. I love my Streamdeck, and a Streamdeck with programmable control knobs would be great.

Also, my Amazon history shows I bought this for $90 in 2019.

what do you mean by automation? I use it for Gimp, Inkscape, Blender, Silhouette, Desktop shortcuts... I have screens in stream deck for all of it, it does a lot to assist in organizing workflows and automating steps for me!

I haven't used it for streaming for over a year, but still use it all the time for everyday assistance.

Great price on these! I tried one a few years ago and honestly couldnt figure out how to make it worth it for me. Im not a video streamer of any kind and it really felt like all the suggestions I could find on it were centered around that application. I know you can setup macros for anything, but again I've never found the need to automate things into macros.

There is Zoom integration, that displays some basic buttons (mute mic, mute camera, share desktop, etc). But TBH I don't find it that useful since Zoom has global shortcuts, so you can just assign a key combination to a specific keys for the same Zoom controls, and this way you can use your own custom icon image.
Now, if you REALLY wanted to get fancy and use the OBS virtual camera as your Zoom camera then a stream deck would change your life.
