This is a dedicated kid/idiot proof solution. I like it for that reason. In for one.
Best part is you never stop playing, you don't need a second controller and your always wireless because you always have an extra set of batteries charging and gets fully charged long before the set on the controller runs out of juice.
I average about 12+ hrs on a full charge (never kept track but it takes me about 2-3 days of long gaming sessions before it runs out).

That said, I've tried NiMH batteries in my Xbox controller and it's worth trying them out if you have some to see how it suits you.

There are some pretty terrible design flaws in my experience. Take a controller from the dock that is fully charged and remove it. Place it back on the dock right away. The charge process will start all over. As if the battery lost its memory. I'm sure there are better options out there. Some people just focus on the fact that they don't have to constantly replace batteries so they consider this dock a WIN.

- what battery charger do you use
- do you keep the batteries in the charger until the other set dies or do you take them out when fully charged
- how often do you play
I have multiple sets of eneloop but have kids that I'm not sure would be able to change the batteries on their own or would put the batteries in the right spot once drained of juice.
I have an Energizer dock that the contacts are wearing out or just not working anymore as I have to fiddle with it to get it to charge.
