Physics and stuff, so a certain wattage only provides a fixed maximum amount of heat. They won't heat a large space well if it is losing a lot of heat.

Don't expect magic, just better than most of these types of heaters. What these are good at are:
- Most of the models run quietly, so if you want something for a bedroom etc.
- The fan design does a good job of circulating the heat around a room (up to about 12 x 12 or maybe a little bigger), though probably not as good as the noisy ones that spin back and forth.
- Some models have more than one heat output level, which can be useful.
- 5 year warranty. Their warranty service is good. I had one where the thermostat wasn't working properly, they sent a replacement.

Also, if you like the idea of having a remote, that seems rare at this price point.

Amazon reviews for similar/same? heater. I never noticed much smell on the 3-4 I've owned. But for that, and the failures, for sure plan on running it a few hours out of the box to make sure it's working as intended.

I have two units and yes one is for the bathroom. They all are 1500 watts max so nothing magical with this Vornado except it is quiet and if similar to my two, will auto shut off when tipped over.

I have many of the generic 1500 small room heaters and none of them can really heat anything larger than a small bathroom adequately. Does anyone know if this brand does anything more magical or is more effective than others? I guess the good news is that Costco will always do an easy return. Looking for experience of others.

I have had this heater for several years and it warms up our 300 sq ft porch at this time of yr in Delaware. Thermostatically controlled and as previously mentioned, has a tip-over cutoff.

I also saw this metal model on sale also if you are interested:

We use 2 to heat our small 1 bedroom apt, our heating cost is half the price versus the darn baseboard heaters in it. I did have one that was 2 years old, I pulled out last month(snowed already then) it didn't function. I contacted the company after seeing it said a 4 yr warranty.

They sent a email link to upload a picture off the model and date on the bottom and of it after I cut the cord off for them, Less then a week later I had a new unit in hand.
Just saying the customer service was great and painless, wish every company was this great.

Vornado replaced my previous fan due to failure. I'm happy with their service and would buy from them again. They stand by their products!

All I can say is, yes they are "magical".

Don't know how they do it, but it really circulates the air(gently).

I have a small one, less than a cubic foot in size. No problem heating my 12' x 14' bedroom, on medium setting. It would take it a little longer to get things up to temp but then it could do twice that capacity.

I also have a nice little Honeywell, that circular one and also one of those big box infrared types on stand by. But I've never had to use them over the last 2 winters.

Bought the little Vornado 3 years ago from Amazon, used for $10. It was surely returned because it trips off on the highest setting. Was going to return it, but it's been chugging right along on the 2 lowest settings. Very basic, no remote, and tiny. Cycles off and on great though.

All space heaters in the US are going to be 1500 watts max. Anything more would trip your circuit breaker. While this won't create more heat, technically, than your other 1500 W heaters, the fan on this thing will distribute the heat much better. That can make a difference (e.g., less cold spots). You're also paying extra for nice features like a remote, timer, and thermostat. This is a really good price for this make and model I think.

This will heat a 450 square foot room with a few windows and a door with no problem. It's quiet enough on normal mode, but low mode is barely perceptible - just doesn't put out as much heat. I have multiple space heaters, and this one's my top performer.

Aside from returning straight out, would Costco do a price adjustment?

Bought one at $85 a couple of weeks ago from them
