Same CPU, one extra gig RAM (like the Fire HD 10 Plus), runs ChromeOS. Screen has 20 fewer nits (less bright). No SD card slot which I like for downloading offline content. Much longer updates, but who will really keep this till 2028? I'd say it's better if you plan to pair it with a keyboard for productivity, otherwise the Fire tablet is good enough for content consumption.

Also, ChromeOS will NOT run all available Android apps. A good number of them are disabled. Netflix/HBO/Disney/Hulu are some big ones (disabled or video downgraded to 720p on some devices due to WideVine issues). You will have to use the web browser to access them.

Most of the comments about Chrome OS are out of date AND incorrect

Everyone here has to STOP will all the misinformation. I installed the PRIME VIDEO APP, HBO and Netflix. Hulu and Disney are available in the app store. I have a LIFE so I am only subscribed to Prime and HBO. DOWNLOADS are allowed on Prime AND HBO, both run at 1080 if I want. You can pug in external USB 3 devices for extra storage if needed. They make tiny USB-C drives. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIDELOAD / hack or stop updates to get the google app store on it. You can use a mouse and keyboard (nice if you work remotely) and even pug in secondary screens. I have BOTH a Fire HD10+ and a Lenovo Chromebook 10e. I used to used the Fire as a replacement for work apps when I smashed the screen on my iPad. The Lenovo negated the need for the iPad. The iPad is FASTER, but with the Lenovo there is no need for a specialized Citrix Mouse, like the iPad. If you JUST want a tablet for video, the fire is fine. But the Browser on the Chromebook is much much better. The functionality outside of Videos is better. The durability is better. The speakers are fine just not loud.

The 10e is more rugged, and made really for the classroom (for kids handling it). The duet has a more sleek, and premium feel to it.

They have very similar internals, but they have different processors (both MediaTek). The 10e has the MT8183, and the duet has the Helio P60T. I ordered this last week and realized when I opened it that it didn't come with a charger? Do you really have to purchase the charger separately? Or can you use a basic/universal charger?

I bought the Duet last year for $250 and love it. That being said, had this been available for $99 at the time - I definitely would have went with this instead! Having Chrome OS on a tablet vs Android is an absolute deal breaker for these devices (if only for the updates). Plus, for some reason Chrome seems to continue to run smooth on old devices whereas Android slows down as devices get older. For $99, this is a no brainer for someone looking for a decent chrome/android tablet.

You can use any charger. Chrome OS will take power from anything you can get in the port.

Wow. It's a really tempting deal but am not sure how "limiting" ChromeOS is for media consumption. I don't think it has Widevine L1 DRM? L1 allows devices to play things in HD; otherwise it defaults to L3 which only allows for SD playback. As someone mentioned earlier, it also doesn't have Netflix built-in so who knows what else is unavailable.

Getting the Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus (which is nearly identical in specs) is also tempting especially after the Firebox tools that remove ads and bloatware. After loading Google Play, it's basically a "normal" Android tablet and I believe Fire HD 10 Plus IS Widevine L1 certified. However, Amazon's latest OS updates are preventing Firebox from working which you can avoid but sacrifice security by not updating.

I hate spending time on phone screens and I hate mobile websites. It's not like I'm paranoid but I also don't like installing a bunch of different apps.
