Can i change this routers TTL to 65 to bypass hotspot speed limits?

Edit: yes you can
iptables -t mangle -I POSTROUTING 1 -j TTL --ttl-set 65

These Gl.inet routers are super cool. I have a GL-B1300 and there's so much untapped potential for me in the firmware and stuff. I have no idea how to fully take advantage of it all, but it does the basics for me pretty well when I need a simple travel router.

Can this be used to make a permanent connection to a LinkNYC hotspot so I can dump Cablevision? I pay $100 for 100/30mbit, when I get 8-900+mbit up and down via LinkNYC.

All I use at home is 1 laptop, 2 cell phones and a Chromecast.

I have line of sight from my window to the LinkNYC kiosk and am only 50 or so feet away.

Surprise! It already runs on OpenWRT. But their UI is so much nicer than Luci (though limited to key features, but in a very nice way).

This is older model, been around several years and has been replaced by another. It's served me very well traveling, but not the fastest download speeds. Very usable for work and video calls though. I believe this price if the lowest, isn't the lowest by much.
