Fake internet points because they have low self esteem and think numbers next to their name will make them feel good.

I was ready to rag on the 'while true blah' game saying I don't need a game that is my job.
But then I thought about my nephew (8) and he talks a lot about 'coding' (the cool term for software dev aka programming) but he's a xbox, ipad, game hack 'console' type of guy who has no idea what's going on underneath the covers.
Would this be interesting or educational - or is it just a game?

I got it for my 12 year old nephew. But then I've gotten the last 40 or so freebies for him too. I just keep another Chrome profile logged in with his Epic/Fortnite account and snag them when I snag mine. He's about to get my gaming computer for Christmas and have all these games ready to install. We might even be able to pick out some multiplayer games to play together.

This game has a lot of suggestive violence, when the killer "moris" you they may stab you to death many time sand blood spurts everywhere. Or Ghostface with his funny and updated phone selfie kill. That being said, I let my 10 year old niece and nephews play this and they had a blast and weren't grossed out and didn't seem traumatized by it lol.
Here is 908 screenshots in scrollable format, there are a lot of Mori kills and other stuff, feel free to check it out:

He's talking about While True, not by DbD

I also would like to know about While True, but it seems the answer is "try it"

Epic Games gives away at least 1 game every Thursday at 11am est.
Login, bookmark the store page, go back every thursday and scroll down to the Free Games section, it's that easy.

Cheers,

Just played it for about half an hour. It's actually educational. It's like those old logic circuit games where you link up your AND/OR/NOT gates to try to get the result you want, except that it starts with simplified versions of classifier systems (first colors, then shapes, then more complex things). UI-wise, it's mostly laying down nodes and connecting input/outputs and then seeing the system run to see if it worked or not (efficiency counts towards points too). There's other side stuff like using your money to buy faster machines and starting AI-related startups for more money. The core "levels" moves you to progressively more advanced components towards building a "cat translator".

There's better games for learning how to code, but this seems like it'll do a pretty good job of learning AI-related topics at a basic level (they provide links to more educational material). Obviously haven't plated through too much of it, buy it looks like it's going to be all "visual programming", no code. There seems to be a reasonably entertaining theme layered on top of it.

If your nephew is logically inclined, I'd say it's worth a shot. Especially since it's free.

He is kind of right. There was no reason to post it this early besides the dopamine hit the op is getting. It is kind of science.

Umm no.. on the contrary.
Its the same reason why people post AD's for black friday sale ahead of time, so you dont get screwed and make an INFORMED decision on WHEN to buy it, if at all. The sooner you attain this information the better.

I got screwed because Steam had it on sale and i picked it up when two days before Slickdeals has posted it was going to be free on Epic Games starting a few days later. I had already played a +2 hours of the game and a refund was no longer an option.

<snip>
Case in point...

"Hey, look, 'Call of Juarez: Gunslinger' is 70% off at GOG! That's a great deal/discount! Let me go spend $4.50 on it..."
https://www.gog.com/game/call_of_...gunslinger

<buys game for $4.50>

<a few days later>

"Dammit!"
