80% cotton, 20% polyester is better for your feet. Manufacturers try to use synthetic materials to make things cheaper for them but not good for you. This is true not only for socks but for everything you put on.

You can find 12-pair Gildan low cut/no show/ankle socks with 76% to 78% cotton

Get your loved ones socks with a higher cotton % than all polyester. Even if they say breathable, moisture wicking, etc., they aren't.
