Thoughts on this vs the Titanuum 125?

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I am a beginner at welding, so maybe my take will be useful to another beginner. This is probably comparable to my Lincoln SP-100, which I use with flux wire.

On the plus side, it will take .030 and .035 flux wire. Duty cycle at 20% is probably fine.

But it will only take 4" (2 pound) spools, not the ten pounders. This might be annoying if you weld a lot. The two pound spools are more expensive. My first ten-pounder of .035 at Amazon was $38.50 (PGN brand).

The cable is only six feet long. Maybe not a problem if your work is always by the welder.

It has a knob for speed control, It has a current switch with only MIN and MAX.

Hope this helps.

FWIW; I've created some stuff I'm super proud of with a very basic welder just like this one. An old Craftsman with just a speed knob, high and low temp button. It's def a less intimidating way to get into welding. Just make sure you have a grinder too… 'cuz that's gonna get as much use as your welder. Lol.

Couldn't you reload a 2 pound spool off a ten pounder?

Sorry, I read your question earlier and still don't have a good answer. Maybe you could make something that holds the ten pound spool and allows it to rotate, and use some power tool (drill?) to spin the 2 pound reel. I don't have a good answer. Also consider that when your 2 pound roll is done, you will have to feed a new roll of wire. My Lincoln welder gives me a bit of effort when starting a new wire. This one? Don't know. Is there any info on difficulties with the gas mixer or tip?
