I have this unit and it's great so far, quiet and efficient. I wouldn't worry about the reviews re. raising temperature in the room, those reviewers clearly don't understand how dehumidifiers work - All electrical dehumidifiers raise ambient temperature, as they do work that gets converted into heat energy. You are running a heat pump that cools down one end (where the water condenses and drips down), but of course you can't generate cold without generating heat at the same time (just think of the back of a fridge) - so you blow the air through the hot coil to warm it back up, and you end up heating the right room with the wattage that the dehumidifier draws.

If you have a particularly inefficiently designed dehumidifier, it may raise the temperature more than an efficiently designed unit - but this unit is energy star qualified in 2021, which means it's one of the most efficient dehumidifiers out there. Compared to most older dehumidifiers, this one will heat the room less.

Dehumidifiers are not ACs (though they share the same technology of compressing and decompressing a refrigerant like r134a). What those reviewers wanted was clearly an AC that moves the generated heat to the outside either by splitting it (mini split, split at the window) or blowing hot air out of a vent or window. ACs don't just cool, they also remove dehumidify, albeit less than a dehumidifier.

A dehumidifier is better at dehumidifying mostly because of the heating that occurs after air blows over the cold coil. By raising the temperature, you raise the air's capacity to take up moisture, which lowers the relative humidity.

So this unit is great for your basement to make sure you don't get mold or rusty tools, but it's not made to make living in a swamp at 110F tolerable - only an AC does that.
Vremi 50 pint is showing $96 in the cart afer an extra 20% off BF at Vremi.com with free shipping. That's half of what it is on Amazon or Walmart.

This is a great dehumidifier. We bought one to replace our other one that was big and loud. We didn't realize how inefficient the other one was until we got this and have it pull out 2-3x as much water out of the air every night.

We dump the bucket every other night it works so well. Yes it raises the temperature in the room. All dehumidifiers do. This unit also moves A LOT more air with its larger fan so it drops the humidity in a room very quickly. If you run it at nights you don't need to during the day.

Will this also qualify for a $50 rebate from ComEd for getting an energy star appliance. Some dehumidifiers and air filters qualified from Walmart.

20 pt seems pretty small. Anyone have a relative sized dehumidifier? Are you emptying all of the time?

Will this work to remove moisture from a damp/wet wall? I saw a YouTube vid of a guy who made a homemade dehumidifier basically using rock salt in an old bottle/jar with a small colander over it and a nylon stocking or cheesecloth bag filled with more rock salt. He put a fan against it I guess to draw the air in towards it:

Highly recommend this unit (had one that was recently recalled to recycle). Using it in my basement as I have white mold. I also bought WiFi humidity sensors to keep an eye on levels (goal is less than 50 percent). When it rains this thing really kicks in. Need to set up tubing to automatically go to drain for next spring.

The heat issues seem serious. Yes, all dehumidifiers add heat. But looking at the photos of output temperature, that seems extreme. Maybe the cheap out on the compressor and up the heat in order to make it easier for the dehumidifier to condense water vapor out of the air. That does leave you with a very warm room. Overall, it may be the same efficiency, but with undesirable room temperature increase.

You can effectively do the same thing by putting an electric heater in the basement. That is not how all dehumidifiers work.

I trust the bad reviews since they're actually providing photos of temperature probes. Seems like many reviews point that out as a big issue.
