Wow, what a deal!

I've been hemming and hawing whether to get the Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus, the Lenovo 10e or the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite 4gb version.

The only thing that originally stopped me with the Lenovo 10e was the terribly bad speakers. But at this price point, I'll deal with it. I have plenty of other devices around the house (including other PCs, tablets, phones and bluetooth speakers) if I wish to play something at a loud volume.

Here is my brief analysis should this help anyone in the same boat.

* The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is 8.4" and arguably is easier to handle than the 10" Fire HD 10 and Lenovo 10e. But the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite uses a crappy 1340x800 resolution with poor viewing angles. Buyer beware that the A7 Lite does have a 3GB RAM variant as well.

* Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus (the 4GB RAM variant) was really, really tempting especially considering one can use Fire Toolbox to remove the ads & bloatware, sideload Google Play Store, and sideload a custom launcher.

* BUT Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus uses Android 9 as the underlying OS (already out of date considering Android 12 just came out). Not to mention Amazon is releasing a new (currently optional) OS update to version 7.3.3.2 that prevents Fire Toolbox from being able to do its thing. Not sure how I feel about being forever stuck on a previous version of an already outdated OS.

* I've read that the Lenovo 10e's ChromeOS is a bit hit-or-miss compared to Android (especially with app compatibility) but we shall see. I don't really do much on my current tablets besides catching up on news, perusing Reddit & Slickdeals and occasionally watching a show or TV on it.

As much as a good deal it is, id rather go with the Amazon Fire HD Plus, just based on the added storage option, especially with the firebox tool to 'unlock' it.

I've been a strict user of Chromebooks since late 2013 and own about 8 of them including a few convertibles. Can't really think of a use for a Chromebook tablet since I rarely even use my Android tablets. That said, I might grab one to collect dust anywaySmilie

Don't think it has widevine 1 support so no HD def on netflix, (also saw that stated in lenovo forums; https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Leno...-p/5057812 [lenovo.com]

Ths same poster said no high def for amazon prime vid either

But didn't do a deep dive to verify
You don't need to use app for those. you can directly go to netflix.com on to the browser and you'd get full HD experience

Chromebook you can install AdBlock extension. Android you sit through ads like a sucker

It's a good question. I love my Chromebooks but not really sure what the purpose of a Chromebook tablet is compared to an Android.

I am in the same boat. Got the Samsung galaxy tab 4Gb version from bestbuy but have not opened it yet. Between a tablet that will get outdated in the next 2 years vs the chromebook 10e at $79.00, i think the choice is pretty clear. However the one thing going for the samsung tablet was the form factor ie being able to hold in one hand and operate with the other vs this.

Thats the Duet, different tablet but still not sure. Only reason I want a tablet is to stream, and streaming via web browser is a no go for the airplane.

So far the best deal for me is Lenovo P11 Plus if you have perksatworks or employee account.
Its showing for $179 and main pros are :
  • Android 11
  • High end processor
  • Bigger screen with 2k resolution
  • expandable storage
  • quad speakers / optional pen support

The hardware is nice but the software is buggy, could really use a more consistent smaller font and icon presentation to make use of the screen real estate.

I can't believe they are now selling on ebay for less. This is probably it for stock.
