Wow, what a deal!

I've been hemming and hawing whether to get the Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus, the Lenovo 10e or the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite 4gb version.

The only thing that originally stopped me with the Lenovo 10e was the terribly bad speakers. But at this price point, I'll deal with it. I have plenty of other devices around the house (including other PCs, tablets, phones and bluetooth speakers) if I wish to play something at a loud volume.

Here is my brief analysis should this help anyone in the same boat.

* The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is 8.4" and arguably is easier to handle than the 10" Fire HD 10 and Lenovo 10e. But the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite uses a crappy 1340x800 resolution with poor viewing angles. Buyer beware that the A7 Lite does have a 3GB RAM variant as well.

* Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus (the 4GB RAM variant) was really, really tempting especially considering one can use Fire Toolbox to remove the ads & bloatware, sideload Google Play Store, and sideload a custom launcher.

* BUT Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus uses Android 9 as the underlying OS (already out of date considering Android 12 just came out). Not to mention Amazon is releasing a new (currently optional) OS update to version 7.3.3.2 that prevents Fire Toolbox from being able to do its thing. Not sure how I feel about being forever stuck on a previous version of an already outdated OS.

* I've read that the Lenovo 10e's ChromeOS is a bit hit-or-miss compared to Android (especially with app compatibility) but we shall see. I don't really do much on my current tablets besides catching up on news, perusing Reddit & Slickdeals and occasionally watching a show or TV on it.

As much as a good deal it is, id rather go with the Amazon Fire HD Plus, just based on the added storage option, especially with the firebox tool to 'unlock' it.

F it. My wife is constantly booking people for her home business on her small phone. Maybe this will keep her from going blind. That's all she needs it for. 80 bucks. Why not...

I was able to cancel my earlier order with Lenovo.com through my order screen. Clicked the option to cancel and got a confirmation email a few hours later. Ordering this for $20 cheaper per tablet is a no brainer.

I purchased the $99 deal from Lenovo a few hours ago and now I submitted the cancel request. But I won't buy this from eBay until after the cancelation is processed and I am refunded, even though the eBay listing may likely sell out before then. Lenovo did not ship this item yet to me so maybe they can cancel faster.

On principle, I consider it a ripoff that Lenovo would offer it for 20% cheaper from eBay than direct from their own website during Black Friday, especially when they don't need to pay eBay commissions.
You sound like a glass-half-empty person. Take advantage before it sells out if you want one. You are taking a "cut your nose off despite your face" stand. This happens frequently. Just consider them a different seller and enjoy the win. You can return free if your Lenovo ships (from what has already been posted in this thread). I haven't looked.

This thing was made for educating young kids. Youtube reviews show it is pretty tough on its own, but i guess you can never be too cautious.

Where is this firebox unlock tool?
They called it the wrong name. It is called Fire Toolbox.

Thanks! Do you happen to know if this can be done on a Chromebook (instead of a Windows machine)?

not just for kids but adults. This is more than capable for Adults. I am tempted to open the 10e that was delivered today. Must resist because I will return it for the $79.

I'd rather get one without all the Amazon Junk, ads, and weird UI. And I still run into minor issues all the time on mine with Google services and apps, because they are shoehorned to an OS that doesn't want them.
