YMMV The coupon code used by the agent was CCHOLIDAY25. Hope its useful to someone. The chat representative didnt give this coupon code to me, but when the payment link was generated by the rep, i saw it on the payment page.

This saves $25. One of our members on this thread has detailed how to get in touch with the hp rep and get this coupon for the purchase.

HP has ran out of the backlit black keyboards! You can now only get the backlit option if you order silver or rose, both with silver keyboard. This is not surprising since white backlit shows up best with black background keys. silver background keyboards don't have as high visibility as black background keys with white backlit.

It depends on a a few things.

First thing first, budget. This HP laptop offering best value from all the deal for high $300 to mid $400.

What kind of work, use you need? For gaming this HP would lose due to graphic demanding game would require dedicated graphic card. While GTX1650 wouldn't keep up with the newer more demanding game, it's still relevant for many games. Also dedicated graphic card is used toward 3D image work. However, for work that is less graphic reliant, the HP laptop is plenty sufficient. In some task that just relying on the CPU raw processing power, the HP laptop can even surpass the performance of the MSI.

So if you don't need it for 3D work, some graphic demanding game, and you don't want to stretch your budget, the HP laptop is very solid.

Should be plenty enough.

IMHO, no.

my 2c: i had a touchscreen sony laptop 7 years ago. it was fun but only really viable when the laptop was in my lap or whenever i was really staring down on the screen (if that makes sense). i found that touchscreen was only useful or convenient when i was physically reaching down on the screen, unless it's a laptop that can completely fold like a true 2 in 1. otherwise, under normal circumstances like on a desk, you'd be reaching across your body / parallel to the ground. try that -- it's just not comfortable or fast vs. using a mouse.

my two laptops since the touchscreen sony have been non-touch. again, it was fun to try but i personally never used it enough to justify any price on it. even if it were a $10 upgrade, im not sure i would go for it today, unless the screen quality itself were an improvement.

Great deal tbh, probably the best deal with a 5500U, compared to the other i3/i5 and even i7 deals, 5500U almost always comes out on top.
2 RAM slots, replaceable NVME and WiFi card, FHD IPS screen
only downside is the not so great battery size and probably not so great build quality.

but for sub-400, this is a no-brainer and can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it, especially if you take the 2x8GB 3200 RAM upgrade.

just wish other retails can price match on specific builds.
Ryzen 7 5700U is an option for an additional $90, didn't check the benchmarks to compare, but the Ryzen 5 5500U is probably fine for most people...
That's the name of the integrated graphics chip on this APU, It's not trying to mislead anyone.

No DisplayPort or Power Delivery. Makes using it with a hub or dock more difficult. The 15z-eh100 might be an ok deal if you need that:

Seems to have gone up by $50 randomly, now the base decent config is $419, still not a bad deal, but there are better ones out there, sorry...

For $399 that is showing up as the price now, will it come with a backlit keyboard?

Nope, that's an option, only with the silver color (which takes $10 off) for an additional $30.

Went down by $20 now, basic config should still be $399, $30 more than last night, which is just about the same as the config from Walmart (https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-15-...86002531), but easier to order and customize.
