Great deal tbh, probably the best deal with a 5500U, compared to the other i3/i5 and even i7 deals, 5500U almost always comes out on top.
2 RAM slots, replaceable NVME and WiFi card, FHD IPS screen
only downside is the not so great battery size and probably not so great build quality.

but for sub-400, this is a no-brainer and can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it, especially if you take the 2x8GB 3200 RAM upgrade.

just wish other retails can price match on specific builds.

Ryzen 7 5700U is an option for an additional $90, didn't check the benchmarks to compare, but the Ryzen 5 5500U is probably fine for most people...

That's the name of the integrated graphics chip on this APU, It's not trying to mislead anyone.

What's the battery life on this? I can't get a clear answer
I was wondering the same. This guy says 6 hrs off the cuff. Not sure if tested, but that answered my question sufficiently, so thought I'd share. https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3...j8S65HW_AO

Tempted to rebuy 3 laptops from the recent early BF Walmart deal. Not sure how this AMD chip compares to i5-1135G7, but I can basically get same price with an IPS panel. Not thrilled about HP return policy with restocking fees, though slim chance that will be needed.

until 12th gen comes to laptops, AMD just wins

Don't know much about computers. I have an acer aspire 3 I bought last year. Is this worth upgrading? I'm a college student and will be using the laptop for school purposes. Microsoft Word, excel rgc, youtube, internet browsing.

My current laptop is kinda buggy it won't scroll down smoothly after an or so of using it.

5500U is SOLID. The battery life and performance beats anything Intel has.

I just got this for $407 configured this way: Gold color, 12 gb ram, 256 SSD, and FHD non touch screen. I've been looking for a $400 laptop for my mom for Christmas all week and most have had crappy processors or skimping on RAM or SSD size for $400. This one checks all the boxes and a better processor then I expected. I added it to my car 2 hours ago and just checked out. I guess I got it before the price increase.

I grabbed this, but upgraded basically everything..except I didn't do the touchscreen.
I am definitely questioning my decision to grab the 5700u over the 5500u though.. not sure $90 was worth it.

Last year it took over 2 months for the hp laptops to get to people who bought on black Friday. I hope they actually have these in stock this year and aren't building them in china as they're ordered again. With the supply chain issues this year it could spell disaster.
