Great deal tbh, probably the best deal with a 5500U, compared to the other i3/i5 and even i7 deals, 5500U almost always comes out on top.
2 RAM slots, replaceable NVME and WiFi card, FHD IPS screen
only downside is the not so great battery size and probably not so great build quality.

but for sub-400, this is a no-brainer and can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it, especially if you take the 2x8GB 3200 RAM upgrade.

just wish other retails can price match on specific builds.

Ryzen 7 5700U is an option for an additional $90, didn't check the benchmarks to compare, but the Ryzen 5 5500U is probably fine for most people...

That's the name of the integrated graphics chip on this APU, It's not trying to mislead anyone.

The CSR was surprisingly reasonable. Asked for a coupon, got Ryzen 7, 16gb ram, 1080p non-touch, backlit keys, Wi-Fi 5, 128gb SSD for $489.99.

Zach.OutI made the mistake of creating a regular account with my school e-mail then later realizing there was a different link to create an account through for students. If you use the chat feature the rep should be able to get your account set up which will effectively lower the price to $321.99 before any adjustments.
HP chat she said the discount isnt available. Maybe I didnt ask the correct question? Below is the convo. Should I explain it differently?

Tammy: "Hello. I just realized that when I signed up on hp I signed up on a regular acct and it was supposed to be a student one. Can you help me fix this"

Agent (Kaye): "We appreciate you for contacting HP. Can I please have the email address you did use to sign up?"

Agent (Kaye): "I've checked here and for your account it has already been enrolled under our employee purchase program wherein you're entitle for an employee/student discount for eligible products however our employee/student discount pricing is temporarily unavailable since we're currently having a big sale which most of our products are having a big discount"

Tammy: "isnt there a different type of HP account when you are a student? I'd rather sign up under the student one, since I used my school email."

Tammy: "https://www.hp.com/in-en/shop/students/about-the-program [hp.com]" "I want my school email address to be associated with this type of account, a student account"

Agent (Kaye): "Both employee and student purchase discount offers the same discounts which is up to 5% however it is temporarily not available since we're having a big sale."

I tried so many reps, all similar responses. They just won't add $25 off to EDU or EPP account.

You can ask them to switch account back to General Store and they're fine giving you $25 off, but total price after discount would be $3 more than EDU/EPP.

I'd say just buy and later call to see if you can get protection plans or similar for free.

If your account is EDU/EPP, no discount code can be added.

However, you can create a new account for General Store or ask rep to remove existing account special store association.

Someone mentioned CCHOLIDAY25 for $25 off, which I tried to ask rep to apply for me and they had no problem. As long as my account is under General Store.

I have a EPP and signed up with my school email and my cart is still showing more than the others who purchased through EPP/school. Idk what Im doing wrong…. Others got their chromebook down to $326.99

My configuration is: silver, Full HD screen, 256 gb storage and I'm at $369. Looks like Im missing a $18 discount off the base price for some reason.
$339.99, plus $10 full HD +$20 for 256 gb= $369.99

Jid87 placed an order for the same Customization as I have above: Full HD screen and 256 gb storage. His EPP price was 321.99+ 10 for full hd+ 20 for 256gb =351.99 total before applying 25$ discount

What am I doing wrong?

Is the Wifi upgrade worth it? I didn't even notice it because it was way down below the Microsoft Office etc.

I just realized that my EPP/student account it's giving me a discount off the base price of the computer. The proce is the same when I check out without signing in and when I sign into my EPP/student account. It's $36.99, no coupon.

Do I need to put in a special code to get the EPP/student account? The account shows it's an EPP one.

Why would the discount not work?

Multiple posts reference it being a dedicated GPU. Thought I'd confirm. Cheers.

Well...The upgrade is 2x2, which means it has two antennas for receiving and transmitting, which can really help performance. So in that sense, the upgrade is worthwhile.

However, if you are handy, you can do the upgrade yourself and by a similar Intel one for as little as $19 based on a recent Amazon search. Intel NICs tend to perform much better than Real-Tek.

And if upgrading your own NIC, you could spend a little more and go WIFI 6 vs the two WIFI 5 options here.

So if I was not the type who was willing to open up the laptop to upgrade WIFI, then yes I would definitely consider spending the $20.

If I was willing to pop the cover, I would not upgrade on the HP site, but wait and upgrade myself if I decided I was not getting the performance I needed or wanted.
