GoPro 10 is $329. Don't know if there is much difference to warrant paying $100 more for the new model.

Plus, GoPro upgrades often aren't upgrades. Just like Apple, sometimes it's a new model just for the sake of a new model.

What's the story on Navy Exchange? I have friends and neighbors who are active service. Are they going to be pissed at me if I ask them to use their access to the shop to grab this for my son? I don't want to be disrespectful, but saving $120 on one of these from regular retail sounds like it is worth calling in a favor on if that isn't considered "bad form"

Offer to split the savings with them for their time. They'll probably decline, but that's a nice gesture.

I used to have a buddy who would shop at the PX/Commissary for us all, usually for weird imported foods or cigarettes you couldnt get anywhere else.

Agreed. It just morally wrong to consistently ask non family military member to get/score a deal.

You're going to trigger a few slickedeals gatekeepers who feel it's disrespectful to ask for your military friends/family discount. At the end of the day do what is appropriate and amenable between you and your friends/family who are in the military..The handful of slickedeals members whom you'll never meet that would give you a hard time are irrelevant.

Would you be comfortable asking them to use their employee discount at a store or restaurant? none of us know how close you r to them.

Yes or no. There's your answer.

GoPro is known for video quality. But what about photos? Is it as good as iPhone 12 mini?

so your question is "can something that record High Quality pictures 60 Frames per second (video) be cable to take a single Frame in High Quality?" Here is a new indo = All video camera can take still picture but not all camera can take video.
Be able to take a photo is not equal to be able to take good quality photo, so your snarky answer is stupid. Look into camcorders from let's say 5-10 years ago, the video quality would be still decent but the photo quality would be completely atrocious.

Unfortunately GoPro photos are not great, I would say they inferior to the most of the modern phone cameras while roughly on par(or arguably better especially in terms of the image stabilizations) in terms of the video.

I'd recommend the DJI Osmo Action instead, which is $200 and often has deals that include several free spare batteries. Doesn't have the lag issues the GoPro does, and is highly regarded in the action cam community. I own one and love it.
