Hard to decide when a SmallRig cage is less than twice the price, but that's additional weight for the weaklings out there so I understand not wanting those, but these skins are absolutely IMO a must for a working professional on their lenses.

Photographers aren't usually the shadiest of people, but shit happens and mix-ups pop up from time to time at places with a lot going on. Personalizing your gear is the easiest way to protect it.

Smallrig light can be cheaper than one of these skins.

It could also be a surefire way to stand out and be a target. That navy a7 or green 7d would draw too much attention in my parts.

I use black electrical tape to tape up all my logos/branding on my lenses and body. It makes my camera equipment look dingy and broken.

Thanks! Pretty nice if you go for a subtle off-black pattern.

Thought about something really colorful but it was a bit too much.

Yeah, they do have different skins for different applications as well. I mainly shoot promo videos and these skins always help start a conversation with various clients. They do include a skin to cover up the logos if you just don't like the branding like myself. While they obviously don't protect the camera from drops, mine looks brand new when taking them off after a year or so of usage.

When removing these skins, does the adhesive cause any damage to the lens finish?

Lenses are pretty easy since they're precision cut and you just lay it down on the designated areas and follow the guides. Cameras will take a bit longer since there's more pieces to work with.

Basically Lego stickers for your camera.

Zero from my experience. They're made from 3M Adhesives, so no residue or surface damage, since it's the same used on high end car wraps.

I always get people asking "yo how much does that cost"

"Ehh a few hundred bucks, it's not worth much these days". Thankfully they don't know what a 400 2.8 or Sony A1 is.

These are pretty easy on and off, and somewhat forgiving. A buddy of mine has his long lenses wrapped and they do look neat. I just wrap my big lenses in car drying towels and rubber bands lol

These are also vinyl, which isn't a great substance for humans to be in contact with for prolonged periods of time.

What is the point of these skins? Protect from scratches so you can sell your gear for few more bucks in the future? Enjoy the texture of your thousands dollars gears and avoid these skins! A cage is more reasonable to have!

Seeing these on camera bodies and lenses that individuals are trying to sell is hilarious. Good on the company for making money, but they look ridiculous when on products in the real world. But humans are weird and think carbon fiber stickers are cool on anything. At least it makes expensive equipment look like it came from a yard sale so maybe it helps with theft after all.

$50 for a skin for my x100v seems absurd.
