Having issues right now with HP's restocking fee. Laptops arrived damaged (or defective from production - hard to say) but I would note that they didn't ship the laptop boxes in any outer boxes which meant being tossed around in shipping could really abuse them. So, for sending me non-working units, HP is trying to charge me a fee.
That Optane option gives you Intel H10 SSD which is essentially a lower edn DRM Less QLC SSD Intel 660p with 32GB Optane Cache built-in and it performs worse than the normal TLC SSD it comes with.
Best 3070 deal since the L5P 3070,

Keep in mind that scummy HP charges restocking fee and shipping is in the air, they're most known for pushing back units. With that being said, price is incredible

This unit has some metal construction and superb thermals, maximum performance

Pulled the trigger and will be returning the MSI G76 I got from costco. Shipment date says 12/9, not expecting though after reading the comments. Happy to have the better GPU and display though. Thanks for your comments and happy holidays.

I got the MSI Delta from Best Buy on sale for $1,300 which has 15.6" FHD 240hz - Ryzen R7-5800 - Radeon RX6700M - 1TB SSD - 16GB Memory. It it worth it to keep the MSI or return it to get this HP Omen?
Definitely. This is a more powerful laptop in every aspect. However, it's a bit chunkier and bigger compared to MSI Delta.

No, they don't. Edu, EPP etc. don't work with any Cashback sites.

Dell XPS 17.
Pricey laptop though, but sleek and looks nice. There's a deal for one at Costco right now.

I ordered mine last month and the delivery date has changed to 12/31. Good luck getting yours this year. I am going to order the Legion Pro 5i instead. F HP for changing delivery date twice on my order.

Thanks! I see a pricey one on sale at $2499. Is this the one you're talking about: https://www.costco.com/dell-xps-1...07312.html

I just want that nice screen for video content. It may become my computer/TV in the near future. How would the Dell UHD+ screen pair with the lowest i5 CPU? Would that be crazy to order? It's $1619 minus any coupons or cashback. Expensive I know, but if you're using it many hours a day as computer monitor and TV, then may be worth it.

HP has 17 inch on sale now too with nice 4K screen at $1309. Another tempting option.

Dell has an Inspiron 7000 that is 17" . I could of sworn it's 3:2. Graphics card is a paltry mx350...

I was actually referring to this one:
https://www.costco.com/dell-xps-1...04930.html
I'm on this laptop right now. But full disclosure, I'll be returning it for a few reasons:
-Bought it at a higher price, and Costco won't price match their new price, even though I'm in the return period.
-Going to sacrifice touch screen, 4K resolution, and fingerprint scanner, and try out the Omen with non-touch and 2K; saves $800-900, and gets a better graphics card. Omen is bulkier, but not like any 17" laptop is particularly portable.
-Very large touchpad is prone to accidental touches, and incorrect clicks (right vs left). Might be a problem on Omen too, or most laptops with giant touchpads these days).
-No USB-A port or HDMI built in. Not that big of a deal, as it comes with a C- to A-/HDMI adapter, and I'm thinking this will be standard in the future, but it's too soon, and still too many USB-A peripherals lying around.
-XPS has sharp edges. Enough so that it's annoying on my wrists and forearms when using the laptop. It also has the compressed up/down arrow keys, which I find annoying enough to mention here. Both of these are less of a concern if you're using this for the monitor and using an external keyboard.

If your primary concern is the nice screen, you honestly can't beat the XPS though. You might be able to get by with the i5, but it'll be less equipped for video editing, if you plan to do that. If just for viewing, you'll probably be fine.

The 4K HP Envy is also a good choice, and would save you a fair bit of cash. You'd just be sacrificing the touchscreen.

Thanks! That's a lot of negative little small things with the XPS to add up to a return. Most of all being Costco not adjusting the price! I wish we could check these out in store. But neither the XPS nor the HP's are on display where I live. I wish there was more cashback with HP's online store. There's 15% off Dell today from the biggest cashback site. HP has top cb which has bad reviews. I don't need a gamer, and rarely edit video. I'm only in it for the screen. I'm sure both the XPS and the HP with 4K screen would be perfect. Even without the cashback, I'm leaning towards the HP at $1100. Quite a bit cheaper.

Since this Omen deal is deal, what will you get to replace the XPS 17 from Costco?

Costco has a 30 day price match policy, so they told me I could only return and rebuy if I wanted the new price. Such a waste, and their loss.

I put in an order for the Omen 17 a couple days ago, so got it in before the deal died.

HP has 12% cash back at TopCB, though not sure if it'll track if you use coupons. You should still be able to use the Holiday10 code for 10% off at HP.

I got the laptop and man, you can notice backlight bleeding on dark backgrounds even in well lit areas. I have never experienced such pronounced bleeding. It is such a shame but I am considering returning or getting an exchange. Hope they do not charge a restocking fee.
