why do people really think a $16 lifetime VPN deal is legit?

don't touch anything related to banking / finances, crypto and anything sensitive requiring a password and you will be good to go.

They will be MiTM / mining traffic data, along with your personal information... Ad injections seem also very likely, as they strive to cover bandwidth costs.

You have to be a very special kind of fool to trust some random password manager ("PassHulk" ) with your passwords, also.... https://bitwarden.com/ if you need something legit.

almost all the "VPN Reviews" are shills and untrustworthy garbage -- there are tons of them on YT & blog spam articles ridden this "BEST VPN" reviews
All these guys care about is clicking through their "special link" (or using their promo code) to get commission from a new user signup. Zero Fks are given about anything else.

If anyone is wondering, I have used the following services with FastestVPN:

1) Netflix US
2) Netflix UK
3) HBO Max
4) Disney Plus
5) Hulu

I've used Hulu on my Fire TV stick on my TV. FastestVPN has an app for Fire TV.

You get lifetime vpn. But the other 2 options are given for 1 yr only. They aren't for lifetime.

No, " You get 1 year of Internxt's 2TB cloud storage plan and 1 year of PassHulk's password manager with the purchase. "

been using this on my pc every other day since their last lifetime sale in april
many outlets don't work or underperform, so it takes a while to find reliable ones.
it prefers using usa based outlets which are not useful if you mostly need to p2p,
so if you p2p try Europe because their canadian outlets are surprisingly bad here.
disconnect notification and reconnect logic of the client is poor, so i often found
myself not protected by the vpn at all, just the client running saying to connect.
it tries to keep a service running all the time, even when the client is unloaded,
i have to go into task manager and manually stop this cpu hog between uses.
as vpn client/services go (i've regularly used a half dozen paid over the years)
i'd rate this one "fair" for occasional use only, and definitely not as a router vpn.
sorry, i have not tried this for spoofing international netflix and streaming tricks,
but i can say it works for watching anime that's only available in japan/oceania,
and watching UK programming only available to british tv tax payers.

What is reputable anymore. I read recently that Private Internet Aceess and ExpressVPN are now both own by a company that used to do malware and spyware datamining. and PIA has been owned by them for a few years now. And Nord is......nord.
Thank you! I dug a little ... You are right!
Key word: "Sagi is the founder of the gambling software company" ... "This company was best-known for making a software development kit for browser integration/hijacking used by multiple adware."

But now – there's an update to all this. After the $936m acquisition by Kape Technologies, Private Internet Access and ExpressVPN are actually owned by the same company.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teddy_Sagi

Teddy Sagi (Hebrew: טדי שגיא‎; born 1971) is a Cypriot-Israeli[1] billionaire businessman, partially based in London. Sagi is the founder of the gambling software company Playtech and owner of London's Camden Market. His personal wealth is estimated at US$3.6 billion, with interests in real estate, gambling software, payments processing, and digital advertising.[2][3]

Kape Technologies plc

In late 2012 Sagi acquired the start-up company Crossrider for $37 million. The company went public on AIM at a value of $US 250M. This company was best-known for making a software development kit for browser integration/hijacking used by multiple adware.[11]

In June 2016 following the appointment of new management team, the company changed its strategy to focus to Cyber-security with a focus on Digital Privacy and Protection of digital data. In practical terms, the company stopped its browser SDK business to focus on the VPN sector, purchasing CyberGhost VPN in 2017.[12] In March 2018 the name of the company was changed to Kape Technologies plc.[13] Kape then purchased Zenmate in 2018, Private Internet Access in 2019 and ExpressVPN in 2021, all VPN carriers. It also acquired the VPN review publisher Webselenese in 2021.[12]

I have the same issue, you can manually type it in, or put space after every 4th digit.

I use airvpn.org (they have annual BF sales), but Mullvad is also very good. They're resold by MalwareBytes and even Mozilla Firefox VPN is just reselling Mullvad VPN, but they (Mullvad) do not have sales though

this is a very comprehensive google doc analyzing countless VPN and all their characteristics, which I'd used years back to short list a few providers. It may not be updated in a while, but still can be a good reference doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadshe...edit#gid=0

**

Note slickdeals has pushed this to the front page because there's affiliate $$ / commission being paid out for every sign up...
SD shilling deals is extremely common (every outbound link from this website is also monetized) and due to the recent FTC guidelines they are required to include a disclosure, which was in very small grey text on posts, but has evolved into a banner at the top of every page.

edit--

Laugh ... Hola isn't safe either.

From sometime back, but this is a instant ban worthy: https://www.dailydot.com/debug/ho...-security/

>The company behind Hola is turning your computer into a node on a botnet, and selling your network to anyone who is willing to pay.
...
>Additionally, Hola can let someone take over programs on your computer.

This is what happens when you use cheap & free VPNs.
Thank you! I am new to this market & your posts help me a lot.

I bought another set of this FastesVPN yesterday night (previously deal was only 5 devices) and tested it for a few hours with my iPhone and Android phones and the result is poor. With FastestVPN, I can't hide my IP but with Windscribe, it always worked.

Save your money and get a better VPN like Windscribe or KeepSolid's Unlimited VPN.

I've had this for a few years, I paid $10 for a 2 user lifetime subscription without the extra stuff. It's unreliable but works ok for torrents. Their windows app crashes constantly, but I've used their servers on OpenVPN with success. Usually I have to try a few different servers to get a reliable and fast connection. I also had to add a "blockoutsidedns" text line to every opvn file they provided or a dns leak would happen (my ISP only supports IPV4).

For normal use I use HideMyAss.

Everyone loving on Windscribe beware as well. My account was deactivated and I had a lifetime subscription that I purchased years ago from StackSocial. I actually still have the redemption code in my account. No matter what I do I can't get a way to reset or verify who I am, and I've emailed customer service about 15 times now over 4-5 months and no response. So lifetime is what it is, especially with no way to contact them a few years down the road.

This software is total crap. They should pay me to use it. It causes many more problems with my PC's configuration than it helps.

Use OpenVPN and add the profile. Don't use their vpn client

I went ahead and got their 5-yrs for $39.99 deal. As an fyi, if it uses the same app as the lifetime sub it's been terrible for me. It keeps locking up on me until I restart it and the speed is terrible. You get what you pay for. Clearly
