I'm in Illinois where online sports betting is legal but it did not work on my work VPN in Wisconsin. The sports betting sites are accessible from anywhere but when you go to place a bet it has to verify your location.
Hmmm ... Are you in Uline?

Being a true SD, I bought it first and now trying to figure how to use it Frown

I cannot download VPN for Linux, do lifetime member are not eligible for apps ? Using Winscribe it was simple just install winds scribe ubuntu client.

On simple google I do see CLI instruction for setting up openvpn. But it means I have to run a background task and the vpn server will not change. How to automate this open vpn connection.

The speed that I got from a NY server is about 1/5 of Winscribe in same region. Any pointers to help me in setting this up ?

I recommend Avast VPN. Their Antivirus might suck nowadays, but their stand alone VPN service is one of the best I've used.

Another benefit of using a router as your VPN client (this goes for any VPN AFAIK) is that you can connect as many devices as you want to that router, and it only counts as 1 device that the VPN provider can see.
Could someone please recommend a good but fairly priced VPN for router? I'm running ASUS Merlin and would like to setup a stable VPN Director.

Just installed it and have been trying it out. Seems pretty easy to use. I have not had any issues connecting to any servers. I ran a speed test between this and NordVPN and Nord seems to be twice as fast for the same server locations. So maybe not the "FastestVPN" but I really don't notice the speed reduction during normal use.

So I just did a bit of testing of this FastestVPN. The tunnel was set up on a Tomato router, a pretty ancient one too:
Chipset Broadcom BCM4716
CPU Freq 453MHz
Flash RAM Size 8MB
Total / Free Memory 60.59 MB / 50.17 MB (82.81%)
Total / Free NVRAM 32.00 KB / 6044 (18.44%)

FastestVPN instructions on their page seem to have missed "Accept DNS configuration: Exclusive".
https://www.snbforums.com/threads/openvpn-dns-selective-routing-questions.28191/#post-217362
Their default suggestion (Disable) was leaking DNS requests. But "Exclusive" took care of that.

Did the Kill switch via Tomato too.

Overall, the router could do about 6.5MBs of download traffic, getting to ~100% of cpu usage. Did a Linux iso torrent, everything is totally stable for > 1 hour. No DNS leaks it seems. Nothing on https://iknowwhatyoudownload.com

My conclusion is that a beefy router is needed, to do all the AES encryption/decryption.

Anyway, grab a beefy router off the Tomato list, eBay is cheap, set it up for tunneling, and it seems that any VPN would work more or less including this one.

Tomato Kill Switch

Go to Administration -> Scripts > Firewall

Add the following rules:

iptables -I FORWARD -i br0 -o tun0 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I FORWARD -i tun0 -o br -j ACCEPT
iptables -I FORWARD -i br0 -o $(nvram get wan_iface) -j DROP
iptables -I INPUT -i tun0 -j REJECT
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o tun0 -j MASQUERADE

Save the rule and reboot router.

I decided to pass on all Thanksgiving VPN deals.

I am waiting for free trial offer later to see the benefit and won't bother if it's bad.

Getting here ~ 46 ms ping, 5 Mbs download / 1.64 Mbs upload via VPN, on a 12 Mbs upload line. I think I might be limited a bit by the slow router CPU, and its encryption/decryption speed.

So far the tomato router managed VPN seems reasonably solid, no drop outs.

Update: non-VPN speed is 41 ms ping, 12.37 Mbs download / 1.68 Mbs upload

I bought another set of this FastesVPN yesterday night (previously deal was only 5 devices) and tested it for a few hours with my iPhone and Android phones and the result is poor. With FastestVPN, I can't hide my IP but with Windscribe, it always worked.

Save your money and get a better VPN like Windscribe or KeepSolid's Unlimited VPN.
I'm looking to hide my IP (show it as in US when out of country). Will this help or should I go with KeepSolid Unlimited VPN.

Just bought it and tried it on my android tv, tried 4 US servers so far and none are working with netflix

Edit:

Apparently their android tv app had the streaming servers hidden

I confirmed it works and i only learned this after i contacted support for a refund

Poor app design on their part

Since KeepSoild VPN Unlimited still offer LIFETIME plans, I would try them out. At the moment, you get 5 devices for only $13 during this BF weekend. 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee and so, no risk.
