why do people really think a $16 lifetime VPN deal is legit?

don't touch anything related to banking / finances, crypto and anything sensitive requiring a password and you will be good to go.

They will be MiTM / mining traffic data, along with your personal information... Ad injections seem also very likely, as they strive to cover bandwidth costs.

You have to be a very special kind of fool to trust some random password manager ("PassHulk" ) with your passwords, also.... https://bitwarden.com/ if you need something legit.

almost all the "VPN Reviews" are shills and untrustworthy garbage -- there are tons of them on YT & blog spam articles ridden this "BEST VPN" reviews
All these guys care about is clicking through their "special link" (or using their promo code) to get commission from a new user signup. Zero Fks are given about anything else.
If anyone is wondering, I have used the following services with FastestVPN:

1) Netflix US
2) Netflix UK
3) HBO Max
4) Disney Plus
5) Hulu

I've used Hulu on my Fire TV stick on my TV. FastestVPN has an app for Fire TV.
You get lifetime vpn. But the other 2 options are given for 1 yr only. They aren't for lifetime.

Tried it and indeed, got 105% CB for 2 year plan. Is there a way to double dip? In other words get 2 more extra years?
I thought it's for new customer only?

It works great if you ditch the FastestVPN proprietary app and use their ovpn files with OpenVPN. Look a few pages back for my post that gives a complete tutorial.
Just came back to say that this advice has been amazing. I've been using it a couple weeks and its night and day difference using OpenVPN. Thank you!

Hey Vegas, do you know if they have Wireguard configs similar to OpenVPN?

I don't have WireGuard. So no, I don't.

Any updates on open ports with FastestVPN? I tried to use 443 which seems open on paper, but that does not seem to work for torrents.

Funny enough, they have a post on their website talking about port forwarding, except they don't do it!

Can't believe this scam is still being promoted by SD on the frontpage.

I've never found it necessary to change any of the default port settings OpenVPN uses. I once tried loading one of FastestVPN's ovpn files into my router just to see if it worked. It did. No need to change ports there either. But I didn't want a 24/7 VPN, so I disabled it.

I've been using FastestVPN. For most users who don't live on VPN connection all the time, it works great tbh.

One example: you travel abroad and need to log in to pay your utility bills Big Grin In many countries, you would need to VPN to an US server to do the transaction

This used to work really well, but recently their Chrome extension stopped working and they have not fixed it yet. I honestly don't think they know how to fix it. Customer support just keeps saying they are working on it but there have been zero updates beyond that. They also don't want to acknowledge the issue on their website or even respond on the chrome extension page. I'd avoid this for now.

I am in MI.
Want to play Yahoo Cash leagues (Private Prize League).
This year, MI put new regulations and so Yahoo opted out of prize leagues in MI!
How to use this VPN to solve my issue?

I bailed on this service. It was a waste of money. My DNS leaked a few times and I was on the phone with my niece in Kansas who uses them and complained about the same thing.

I read it works well with OpenVPN GUI but I could not get that to work either.

The first time the service stopped working I emailed tech support and WITHOUT ANY CHANGES ON MY END it began to work again.

The 2nd time it stopped working I chatted with support and they disconnected the chat.

I went back to IPVanish which is much more expensive but is FAR superior and won't jerk me around.

EDIT: I would like to clarify my DNS leaks. This was running latest QB, ipfilters, AND this VPN. I still got DNS leaks. In my opinion, this only means a few things; their service does not work, they log and report, or someone pays them for data.

I use it for a few hours probably twice a month, for the past ~2 years. Haven't been popped once, and I got popped twice before using it. So I assume it's working. So I'm not sure how it's a scam. I guess your mileage may vary. Confused

I jumped on this deal when it was $12 a few years back. I have received many DMCA notices since then. Make sure to use tunnelbrick or some other open VPN software with their service and not theirs
