If you need to more battery hours, Ryzen Cezanne. If you are going to keep it mostly on your desk with a power brick connected, Intel 11th gen. i7 11800 is going to beat the 5800h in most gaming and productivity benchmarks, especially with the stock ram sticks. Also, temperature will be better in the intel version, especially with undervolting. Ryzen shines when you are mobile. It will be substantially faster than intel on battery or in Quiet mode while providing 1-2 extra hours on battery. Also, it will consume less power than the intel version.

Placed an order yesterday on Best Buy for an MSI GS76, also looked into the Legion line, but unfortunately, Best Buy didn't carry that many models of it. I had "use it or lose it" money from work, so wanted to get as close as I could.

Saw this thread and the ability to stack some codes (LEGIONDEALS20 and HOLIDAYSURPRISE) tried it on a Legion 7 and they worked. Will be returning the GS76 when it arrives. My total ended up being $2,446,47. The 12% CB and the Lenovo reward points were a bonus. Unfortunately, it states it will take 4 months+ to arrive, but I'm in no rush to get it.

i guess the one positive thing about this laptop over the 4800H one is the true thunderbolt ports on these intel laptop that you can use more bandwidth compared to the usb-c in the amd ones
What does thunderbolt for ? To hook up to docking station for multiple monitors?

The Legion 7i 16" with a 3070 is only $50 more, but with an 4+ month expected wait. I've used the Legion 5i Pro quite a bit and wouldn't mind paying $50 more for the improvements of the 7i. It's just that four months seems like an absurd amount of time to have an authorization lock on my card for $1775 (w/ tax).

if it has Thunderbolt you can add External GPU when onboard one becomes too slow in coming years.

It's slightly customizable. There's also an Intel i9 version if you prefer, but I went with AMD for better battery life and slightly less performance to Intel.

Thunderbold 4 is a high bandwidth port with a max rate of 40 Gb/s and is used by peripheral like SSDs, monitors, and external graphics cards. It looks and acts just like a USB-C port. TB devices are extremely expensive

Aside from the Thunderbolt port, the i7 supports PCIe 4 and the Ryzen doesn't. PCIe 4 is 2x the bandwidth of v3. This is particularly relevant to SSDs, since PCIe4 NVMe cards don't cost that much more than the v3 cards

I'm locked into the m16 with the best buy 2 year financing - I don't feel like dealing with everything that'd go with returning the m16...

At the same time I'm still pretty happy with the m16 so I'm not too ripped - I like the better cpu in the m16. This legion machine pretty much over takes it everywhere else though. Nice machine it is!

Do you know if the charge remains in pending status and then moves to posted when the laptop ships or does Lenovo immediately put the transaction through as completed so that you wind up paying in full for something you are not getting for over 4 months?

By the time it finally ships, Alder Lake laptops might be available. :-)
