Do you know if the charge remains in pending status and then moves to posted when the laptop ships or does Lenovo immediately put the transaction through as completed so that you wind up paying in full for something you are not getting for over 4 months?

By the time it finally ships, Alder Lake laptops might be available. :-)
Pending until it ships. According to the sales rep, they do an authorization hold once a week until it ships.

The rep said "something like once a week," so it might be otherwise. Reddit posts about it's indicate it's once a month. It could vary with different cards.

Is this worth $160 over Ryzen model with 3060? Genuinely asking
I think the 3070 is more future proof than the 3060, particularly since these are the laptop versions. My friend is still happily using his desktop 1080.

Which is better, the Asus ROG G15 or this one? Similar specs, this one has a slightly larger screen and higher nits, wondering to cancel the Best Buy order for this one or not. Asus ROG has a Ryzen 5900hs, only diff I really see.

Untill cpus can throttle at 5.3 g, you won't need more than a 3070 at @140w unless your editing. Games won't benefit from higher gpus till cpus start to catch up.

Placed an order yesterday on Best Buy for an MSI GS76, also looked into the Legion line, but unfortunately, Best Buy didn't carry that many models of it. I had "use it or lose it" money from work, so wanted to get as close as I could.

Saw this thread and the ability to stack some codes (LEGIONDEALS20 and HOLIDAYSURPRISE) tried it on a Legion 7 and they worked. Will be returning the GS76 when it arrives. My total ended up being $2,446,47. The 12% CB and the Lenovo reward points were a bonus. Unfortunately, it states it will take 4 months+ to arrive, but I'm in no rush to get it.

I placed an order Legion 7i last night with the the same spec as yours except it's the i7 processor instead of Ryzen. Total came to $2,245 with the double coupon code. It's also estimated to ship within 10 business days instead of months (pick the non-customizable model)

Commented on that, unfortunately, it states it will take 4 months+ to arrive, but I'm in no rush to get it. There was a comment on Reddit where an individual had the same delivery time stated, but it came within a month.

whats better ?

legion 5i pro i7 11800h RTX3070
or
legion 5 pro Ryzen 7 5800h RTX3070

for gaming and mulititasking

The prior 5800H deal was better. You get double the ram amount. also, most people like ryzen more. The two cpu are very comparable in term of single and multicore performance but the smaller 7nm amd process is a bit more energy efficient so you probably get a bit more battery life and a bit cooler with the amd cpu.

The only positive thing about intel is the true higher bandwidth thunderbolt ports if you ever have a need for it compared to the lower bandwidth usb-c on the amd one that would still allow for DP output. With thunderbolt you can actually daisy chain two 4K60hz monitors off one thunderbolt port whereas you can't do that on the amd one

However, given that most people doesn't daisy chain their multiple 4K monitors or likely use an external GPU as well as the 32gb am on the amd deal, most people would rather go the amd route. I would if i could Smilie

More RAM doesn't mean more power.

From a gamer perspective and normal computer user, 16 GB is more than enough. The CPU and GPU do all the work.

From a mutitasker and video/photoshop user perspective, 32GB will help with those 100 Chrome tabs open and 100 windows open while editing video and pictures.

I ordered this one. For what you pay, this one is the best value in terms of gaming performance.

The Asus Zephyrus M16 and Razer Blade models have gimped GPU's with <100 TGP. The Legion 5 Pro and 5i Pro let you have the full 140W TGP which means the fastest available GPU performance.

The screen on this one is 100% sRGB and 73% DCI-P3 compared to the Zephyrus which is 100% DCI-P3 but I would rather have a lesser color gamut which is still very good and a lot higher performance while gaming. If the color gamut is more important to you, then the Zephyrus M16 is $1500 at Best Buy for Black Friday but it only has a 3060 and it's a gimped 3060 that's more like a 3050 Ti in performance. That said, the 2560x1600 QHD screen on this laptop rates very highly, it has HDR400 and easily hits 500 nits in case you like being blinded while gaming or are just using the laptop outside while it's sunny.

The AMD 5800H model has lower gaming performance and slightly less battery life for people who do unplug it and use it as a regular laptop when not gaming. I would rather have the Intel version of this laptop than the AMD version. 16 GB vs. 32 GB is not material unless you are doing pretty serious 4K video production in Premiere Pro or something.
