are controllers known to go hazy?

i have one the trigger doesnt register always
i have one the bumper doesnt register always
and i have one that the joystick drifts...

Over time those micro switches, etc will tend to malfunction. It takes a little soldering skills to replace the parts if you're into that. Or you can sell it for parts on eBay and pick up a new one.
