The batteries run out every couple of months on this (check reviews). It's works well other than this. Battery drain appears to be driven by a very inefficient wifi radio that keeps connecting and disconnecting despite a very strong signal.

Does this version solve some of the previous issues?

- Disconnects from Connect often even when it' within 2 to 3 ft of each other
- Takes forever for app to connect while approaching door
- Takes sometimes up to 5 minutes for geo location to trigger unlocking
- Tapping the "unlock" or "lock" color often results in a phantom click that requires you to have to do it a second time.
- Might be isolated to me but some of my guests can no longer use their august app on their iPhones.
- App appears to rarely get updated or improved
- Sometimes the no jam feature does not work requiring me to have to re-calibrate the device so my daughter doesn't destroy the door casing.
- Cannot get remote to unlocking to work reliably to let people in
- Often difficult to get connect to respond to setting changes sometimes
- Wifi to Bluetooth swapping is slow

The only thing i can rely on is the scheduling works like a charm and the auto-lock helps keep the door locked as people come and go so I never have to think about it.

I have a very blanketed WiFi area for the device and it shows a strong connection in the signal readings. It's been like this since day one. 0 issues have ever been fixed. I've seen others report some of these and nothing has ever been done to fix anything.

I don't think I can take a chance on this deal given the endless hassle this lock has given me. I'd suggest to others to steer clear for something else that is more reliable.

Are the batteries you're buying made out of diamonds? Because I buy a 12pack on Amazon and it's about 22.00. I've never heard of 10.00 a pair in my life.

No reviews and extremely ugly.
Yeah the downside for this lock is that the brand just launched. I like the ability to use ic cards to unlock. Backed up with keypad or finger print. It's compact you don't need a separate keypad like August does. Sadly they don't say if this lock is for external. Which I would assume they might not withstand the sun or rain

This lock is good looking but I prefer compact form factor ROOK Smart Lock 5-in-1 Keyless Entry via Biometric Fingerprint Scan, Passcode Digital Keypad, Electronic Key Fobs or Regular Keys - Automatic Deadbolt Locks for Front Door (Gunmetal) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DGVG...UTF8&psc=1

This or Ultraloq ( https://www.amazon.com/ULTRALOQ-B...jZe8rbyMWM )?

Ultraloq has great reviews on Wirecutter and pacmag.

I used these (two of them) over Wi-Fi initially. I had to swap batteries every 30 days. Since I switched to Bluetooth via HomeKit for remote access (like you'd do on the previous generation models) it's been nearly 7 months on the same batteries. Really happy with this model. It's also much less intrusively large than the previous gens.

I bought a bunch of the YRD model Yale locks with the hot swappable module that can change them from August to zigbee to zwave. Zwave was very reliable but doesn't have all the features of August, like detecting of the door is open or closed.

The only smart device on my home that doesn't work consistently is this lock. The WIFI bridge for mine died shortly after a year and the auto unlock using Bluetooth works only 20% of the time. I hate when I get to my door with both hands full with stuff and the door refuses to auto unlock. August is really popular but my experience with them is not good.

Good luck with this lock if you have Pixel phone. I didn't know it when I bought it and the lock is going back now. Apparently it's a known issue with no fix in sight - suggestion from August support was to use another phone to set the lock up.

This lock takes CR123 batteries.
Correct, and they're 22.00 for 12. How is that 10.00 for two?

The primary goal of wifi is not energy efficient. Use Z-Wave with hub if battery life is the main concern.

Thanks OP! I didn't like the Eufy smart lock and was looking for the August or Yale lock instead.
Why didn't you like the Eufy? Was it the biometrics one?

yes biometric one. didn't work well since my fingerprints are not that great from too much handwashing. I rather have one that detects that i'm near and unlocks. Plus when I input my number correct or incorrect, it's not obvious if I did it right or wrong (small icons). When my garage is closing, i can't hear the low beep if it was input incorrectly.

Thanks. Was really hoping Eufy would make one that detects and unlock as well when they did the wifi model. Shame
They didn't.

Gotcha. I've never had much issue with batteries lasting with my 3rd gen. I think you need to make sure to to re-calibrate after swapping batteries though or you get weird issues with the door sense feature not working or the lock not locking properly.

Besides having used these at friends or Airbnb's, I don't have a lot of experience with them. When I was researching I read far too many negative reviews around quality issues for me, so I went with the Eufy smart lock. We've had it for 5 months now and I'm super happy with the decision. Just my two cents.
