These are actually crappy pencils. They continuously break as you sharpen and eats the pencil. From 1 12 pack I had to throw 4 pencils away before even using them. I bought these last year. I don't know if it's a bad batch or what.

Maybe you received fake pencils? This is one of the best pencils I have used.

I prefer the pre-sharpened but these will do. How my daughter comes home from school everyday one less pencil is a running mystery.
