These are a decent home owner set, and contrary to what a previous poster listed, they gone through most metal I have used them on (speed being a critical factor in performance). I have these and the Dewalt cobalt set. The cobalt is certainly better for harder steel, but this is the right balance (and price) for most home owners.

Note that these are very aggressive bits and are not great for thin metal as they tend to grab and screw/bend into the material.

The drill bits from lowes only go up to 3/8". These have a 1/2" bit in the set.
