Based on my readings, this unit had a firmware fix to enable multi-channel LPCM over eARC. There was a bug where "rear sounds" would fire from the side speakers of the bar instead of the wireless rear. Good for devices like a PC, Apple TV, or a Nintendo Switch that doesn't support Dolby natively.
Overall, this is an incredible sounding system. The recent firmware update did make an enormous difference, so I have only ever known this bar to produce excellent sound except for a week when I first received it.
You wouldn't think the tiny subwoofer that comes with it could produce as much bass as it does. I am in a 23 x 25 room and it absolutely fills the space with sound and real, heft booms and rumbles.
I should also mention I do not currently have the rear speakers mounted. I have to reconfigure my space before I can, but even with simply the bar and subwoofer the sound is truly impressive.
Atmos especially is jaw-dropping. I just watched the second lord of the rings movie and the battle at helms deep was absolutely astounding to hear. Dune was another great test for this, especially when they use "the voice".
I previously had a 3.1 system running with a Denon X 3600H, very nice speakers and enormous subs. I would pick this for movies most days of the week, as the stage and ATMOS effects are really impressive.
