Bought this for my father when I worked for a company that sold this brand, and had employee pricing, I think I paid $80 for it. That's about all it's worth, IMO. Pretty crappy machine.

Could you recommend anything near same price that is better? I have no personal experience with anything similar.

Same price in store or lower? I was thinking of getting one to try it out. It has tons of positive reviews on Amazon.

Walmart has the Chefman Barista Pro for $129 [walmart.com] which has the same features, probably comes from the same OEM. I wouldn't really recommend these, though, because I'm not sure they could ever produce good espresso.

The entry level De'Longhi espresso machines (Stilosa, ECP3120, EC155) are by far the best machines around $100. They are proper espresso machines with stainless boilers, pressure valves, and ULKA pumps. The parts are replaceable and they've barely changed in 20 years. They can make good espresso with a non-pressurized basket [appliancefactoryparts.com] and a quality espresso grinder. If you don't want to invest at least as much money in a grinder, they come with pressurized baskets for pre-ground or less precisely ground coffee. The Stilosa is $100 with free shipping & no sales tax (BF/Cyber Monday promotion) from WholeLatteLove [wholelattelove.com].

If automated frothing is a must, I would pair one of those with a generic ~$21 electric frother [amazon.com].

Back to spending more money I guess... Breville or a Nespresso Creatista or a superautomatic.... first world problems
