Agreed, especially with Alder Lake being released in a few months. I guess enough people haven't heard that even the best laptops being sold right now have CPUs that will be antiquated soon. Prices should be a lot lower.

If it has a dedicated GPU, does it matter with the newer CPU coming out? Will that really boost performance? In another thread they mentioned the 3070 laptop GPU wouldn't benefit at all from Alder Lake. Wondering if this is the same. Dell is still widely selling 10th gen laptops as well.

If this laptop had the 4K screen I'd bite at that price.

Depends on what your application. CPU thread-intensive applications (i.e. content creation) should greatly benefit from Alder Lake CPUs (20+ threads) over current offerings. Gaming is more affected by clock speed, although 8-cores/threads is becoming the new minimum for high-end gaming.

What's better at this price point for desktop replacement laptop? Some MoM or FEM simulation software, some videos and photo editing, and too many browser tabs open because I'm too lazy to close them.

I friggin hope so. The cheapest I've seen is the gateway laptop deal and the quality if unknown for that laptop. Not that dell has been any better in terms of quality lately.
