was almost this low at newegg the past few days with that 15% off using zip coupon. But since I'd have to sell my unopened 5900x and b550 at losses, I figured it would have to be all the way down at like $299 to be worth fooling with. For new builds even full price is good.

Just checking out the specs -- almost 200W at max turbo! Crazy heat. But looks powerful and price is reasonable.
From what I've seen and read it appears that this level of power draw is only when doing really heavy duty tasks like rendering. Things like gaming that only really tax a portion of the CPU don't bump it up to that level. Still I'm loving having AMD back, so I went ahead and picked up a 5800X a few weeks back and don't really regret it. Especially since my old CPU's typically end up migrating to a server once I'm done with them and that sweet sweet ECC memory doesn't work with most consumer grade Intel CPUs.

This is the MAX TDP and yes, it will hit those numbers but at the same time demolish 5800x and in some cases easily beat 5950x!!!! It's also been establish that at "idle" the the 12700k is actually more efficient then 5800x and when using as a "normal" desktop PC (browsing, video playback, Office work) it's at the same levels as 5800x. So in long term power efficiency difference between those two is a wash. The only thing holding me back from getting it now is the stupid high 690 motherboard prices.... Once the H670 and B660 boards drop in Q1, there is no need to look at current AMD line-up...

No lucky. BB said they cannot do that if MC not in 25 miles.
Keep trying and give them a zip code with a MC nearby if they ask. I pricematched the 10700K at $150 a couple of weeks back using the Tustin Microcenter and I'm on the opposite side of the US. Also pricematched a 12700K yesterday and a 12600K this morning for someone else. The agents early in the morning seem like the most helpful.
