Only reason I'm considering this is because I've become a Milwaukee-whore in the past month or so with all the deals and also becoming a recent homeowner hahaha. It started with M18 and now is creeping into M12. One of the first sets I got was the M18 drill/impact driver set so technically I don't *need* another impact driver :T

But yes, the impact wrench here is OOS. I think another thread it was $130 or so haha. If I were to get a hammer drill, I'd probably want to go all out with a heavier duty M18 version of the hammer drill.
Yeah it can get confusing/overwhelming. As I wrote above I just ordered both the 3 tool $279 and 3/6 battery $89 combo kits. I'll either keep the former and live with the somewhat lesser batteries or keep the latter and pick up the impact wrench separately for either $116 or $129, and then eventually also get the drill and driver if I think I can use them. I already have several drills, all non-hammer but I don't really need that feature, and a 20V impact driver, albeit brushed. But I don't have many non-auto power tool uses these days, being a renter. But that M12 impact driver seems really nice. Saw it in a HD and was impressed.

I've literally been waiting for 9 months for this deal (stubby + batteries) and missed out. What a bummer. 😞

As I wrote above, you can get basically this same deal for a bit more, $16~$30, if you separately get the 3/6 battery combo deal and either wait for the $116 wrench hack deal or get it now for $129. I mean if you can use this tool, is it really worth waiting months longer to save not that much money?

I did not know that. Just saw them posted and ordering now. Thanks

Stupid question, but if you get the $279 3 tool + accessories combo deal, can you return the base 2 tool drill + driver combo and get $179 back ($279 - $179), but keep the impact wrench, thus effectively paying $100 for just the wrench? Or do hacks not work that way, in "reverse"?

In a recent, previous version of this deal, someone wrote in the comments that you could do this, buy the combo kit with the "extra" tool, then return the base combo and keep the "extra" tool for whatever the original price minus the refund value is. In fact they referenced this very combo kit with the stubby impact wrench being the "extra" tool, resulting in the tool costing only $81.

If so, that would be an even BETTER deal than the now OOS $179 deal, if you combine it with the $89 3/6Ah battery + charger + case deal, coming out to $170 vs. $189. But only if this would work. But I bought this combo just in case, and might give it a try.

Great deal. I canceled my order for the 3.0+6.0 kit and picked this guy up instead. With military discount, $180 out the door is hard to beat, will be nice to not have to bust out the big boi ingersoll for light automotive work.
finally HD online MD - stackable $263 with tax out the door.

Hello - new to these type of tools but I am trying to install some grab bars into studs around my house and the driver I have doesnt have enough torque to keep the screw moving through the stud and then it strips the screw; what is better for that application hammer drill or impact? Can someone explain the difference? Looking to buy this deal for that application. Thanks!

Yeah it's free
Kees track of purchases easily and every so often they'll send a coupon like the one I mentioned. Also as you cross different thresholds of spending, you get a good amount of pro cash I think it's called

I'm new to power tools in general, new house, purchased the updated 279 deal not the original that OP posted. Any suggestions on any other tools or bundles I should have considered for first time buyer? I want to use them for automotive, light work in/around house, also possibility get into wood working.

I asked above if this was hackable, specifically with the $279 combo if I tried to return the base 2 tool kit to keep just the impact wrench for $100 or less. But I just saw in the post that it's not hackable. I'm curious though, what makes certain similar deals hackable and others like this one not?

This 3 tool $279 deal will set you up pretty well for most auto and house jobs. Beyond that it depends on what you specifically intend to do. If you're going work a lot with wood you might need some kind of saw, maybe a router, perhaps a sander. For auto work lots of people swear by right angle power ratchets. There's also mid-torque impact wrenches if you plan to work on trucks or seized suspension parts.

But I suggest that you first use these and over time you'll find out what else you might need. I've been doing pretty major auto work for nearly 4 years now (rebuilt brake calipers, strut assemblies & a manual transmission, several timing belt & water pump replacements, etc.), all with just the three kinds of tools in this combo kit, Craftsman in my case, plus a whole bunch of specialized hand tools which are as if not more important with many tasks, e.g. pry bars, ratchet & combo wrenches, extensions, non-impact sockets, etc.

Don't try to learn too much too fast. Take your time and you'll figure it out.
