I've had this modem with the 1 Gbps Ethernet port connected to Xfinity for a few years now. It's been rock solid. Not one problem and it runs cool. Not even warm.

You had a similar looking model.

This one has only been out around a year. 2.5GB Ethernet jack and newer, supposedly better, DOCIS chipset.

just got one yesterday from Best Buy with the recycling program and had to haggle with the Best Buy to get $10 off, so paid $185 cuz evidently you have to purchase Geek squad wifi setup cost $100 before you can get 15% off.. Geek Squad wifi service doesn't make sense if you are buying a cable modem, there is no wifi to setup... hence the haggle there.. Regardless, all that haggle yesterday wasted... Got one, repped to the Poster, much appreciated!

Make sure you use CAT6 cable if you have a 2.5GB router and want to take advantage of speeds over 1GB. I'll be pairing this with AX3200 [costco.com] that is on sale for $129.99 at Costco or you can go for AX11000 [costco.com]

Bought one of these when I moved earlier this year and had to switch to Comcast. Internet was dropping out multiple times a day, but I figured it had to be something on their end, not the brand new modem (which should have been overkill for the 400Mbps plan I'm on).

Long story short, their technicians were useless and couldn't figure it out. I had to troubleshoot it myself, and eventually swapped out the modem just to see. That was the problem. Returned it and bought a different brand, internet has been rock solid ever since.

The Motorola 8611, Arris S33, and Netgear CM2000 all have the same primary hardware and specs (Docsis 3.1, 2.5gbps ethernet).

The Arris S33 does have a dual Lan port (with the second being only 1gbps), but most consumer ISPs don't provide more than one static IP anyways.

If you only need the one static IP address (99.9% of customers), the main difference ends up being the style of the casing and its cooling/airflow design. And price, of course.

I read somewhere that Arris owns Motorola, so the probability of the chipset and hardware being the same is reasonably high.
