I tried it too and it gives 6% not the usual 3% discount.
Anyway make sure you aren't taking the discount incorrectly - BJ's discounts stuff strangely - you'll see the GC price stricken out with a new price that reflects the discount prorate across all products.
I don't like how they do it, but even the free turkey promo was the same way.,
