Imagine what happens if you/your SO/kids forgot to print something out or need to make an adjustment and need to print something again. You'd have drive out to the store again. Not worth the hassle, especially so during rush hour.
If you've worked on all nighters, you know the store isn't open and by that point, you just want to rest your eyes for 10 minutes. Driving out to the store would suck when you could have just ran the printer and the background.
My Brother laser printer can't do colors, but it's been running strong for nearly 10 years now and I've replaced the toner twice with a cheaper third party one.

My old Canon MG6220 has never been a problem here. No paper jams at all, and the
generic ink on Amazon has been flawless and inexpensive.

Does this actually print decent photos?
Why does it look like off-brand cartridges for this printer's PG 275 and 276 cost way more than Canon's own here: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=canon+..._s
These are throw away printers. Infrequent use dries up nozzles.
Cartridges easy to refill using bottled ink and syringe (ebay etc).
Printing works fine for the student, low volume user.
