I think mine gets too hot. It takes the glue forever to set! Also it takes a long time to get up to temperature. I usually let it get hot and then turn it off. It'll still put out glue for a solid 10-15 minutes before it cool down. I've napalmed myself too many times putting up Christmas lights this weekend.

A different glue brand may help! They all seem to work best at different Temps or with different guns

The two temp is much more useful then that one temp. A lot can be done with the low temp setting.
