5 minutes to midnight (deal ends) and then you tell us??
They can detect a network share and won't back it up unfortunately. If you mount as iSCSI, it works but my Synology won't show files on it in it's file browser this way so you get it one way or the other.

Also one thing to note is any drive that doesn't get files written to it frequently, even if it's internal, is considered archival and will be considered "unplugged" and will have its data removed after 30 days, not just external drives. I have some old drives that hold old data or photos that don't get viewed and I have to remember to add a file to those drives. Got tired of doing that every 25-30 days and paid for the 1 year retention. For the stress and time it saves, $24/yr extra was worth it for me.
I am a current subscriber and have been for years. I could not find any method to pay for future service using the discount. Now that it's a publicly traded company, they can start treating us like we're nothing.

Still alive. Have been using carbonite and will try this. Carbonite is incredibly slow to restore. 200GB took a month on a fast connection. Anyone with restore speed experience with black blaze?
They can send you usb hard drives , which you pay for as a refundable deposit when they receive it back.

I've had to do a full system restore after ransomware attack last year… I restored it via two 8 TB usb drives, and rest via direct download.

It took the code this morning and updated the price on the site to $35 for a year but immediately charged my credit card for the full $70; contacted support, hopefully it's just a bug.

1 license per computer.
Thanks. Does that include USB external hard drives connected to the license computer?

I currently have about 30 TB worth of data on a synology nas, that I have no back up for.

I just bought 3 14TB external drives as a backup but something like an online backup would be nice, encrypted of course

What would be the best cost effective online storage option for my use?
Get the Google corporate thing, about $12/mo I think. It gives you an unlimited Google drive, and you can back whatever you want up to that. Synology has built in support for it via some app they provide.

It looks like you only get 5GB of data for accounts with under 5 users or whatever the limit is, but it's not enforced. I have almost 100TB in mine.

Yep, from what other users that have the service already, external devices connected to the licensed PC will get backed-up to Backblaze through their app.

From what I read he admin account gets unlimited space, all the other users are limited to 5GB or something like that.

When I got it I did not check my credit card to see what I got billed for. Just checked and it was $65 on my CC for 2 years.

Disconnected External Hard Drives

Your external hard drives need to be connected to your computer and scanned by Backblaze at least once every 30 days in order to keep them backed up
Carbonite also has the 30 day rule. It's annoying for external drives that are photo achives.

Yeah I think I'll need to pay the extra $2 a month to BB to change the 30 day rule to once a year but I'm annoyed I need to pay extra for my data to not get deleted.

Back it up to the hard drives then upload to cloud. It's a good idea to have three copies.

Unfortunate news on that bug from this morning; thankfully yearly and two-yearly plans are full refunds up to 30 days.

200GB took a month on a fast connection? That's useless then. If someone has 40 TB it will take 16 years to restore.

I still have a pending $65 on my CC from signing up yesterday. Are you saying they will charge an additional $65 cause we got on the deal before they quit accepting it? That would be a pretty sh!tty thing to do to a new customer!

I for sure bought it like 40minutes past the 11:59pm window. Their processing server must have been in a different timezone, or it was manually setup to be turned off, or they gave it some overhead.
