It's better (if you get the everything bundle), the Costco deal included the foil transfer kit and much less sample material with this deal, you could add the foil transfer kit and have a much better bundle (material, cutting mats, tools, etc) for almost the same price. The only advantage to the Costco kit is the warranty.

From the reviews I've read (business practices aside- as cricut realized it would tank with a subscription requirement) the silhouette is only comparable to the maker as a vinyl cutter... and if that's all you want, get an air explorer 2 for much less money. The maker takes the cake with the different media it can handle.

Thinking of upgrading my mom's machine for xmas, she has an older explore model (it's not an air), is this worth it? Does this connect wirelessly/have other benefits vs the older models? She's mainly cutting htv for shirts, but might do some other projects if this has additonal capabilities-

The Cameo 4 actually has a stronger force on its blade/pen which "should" allow it to cut into thicker fabric.

Also the software from the Maker is cloud based and you HAVE to go through the company software/cloud to make it work... Hence the whole fiasco that happened months ago as the company can limit/change what you can do

The Cameo is a straight connection, so you "own" the system. I believe it also allows you to use 3rd party software

The Maker software is easier/more streamlined, while the Cameo is more complicated to learn, however has far more customizations you can accomplish once you learn them

Also the Cameo 4 allows you to go matless and create far wider projects. It looks like the Maker 3 is Cricut's answer to this
Best post to date on the pros (Cameo) and cons (Cricut). Accurately details the issues that the Cricut platform has. Forces you to go through their system where the Cameo device is 100% owned by the purchaser.

After reading the comments on customer service, I am sticking with the Costco bundle even though it has less stuff included. Thank you guys for posting feedback because I was going to buy the everything bundle and return the Costco deal and y'all have scared me away in case something goes wrong - appreciate it!!!
