I own this set. Excellent quality and the shape of ratchet is very comfortable to use. I like that the set includes a 1/4" hex to 1/4" square driver bit in the case, making this set an excellent companion for my impact driver. My only complaint is the ridiculously oversized case. Tons of wasted space in that thing. They could easily reduce the size by 50%. But for a double sawbuck this set is a great value.
cause it was made to clamp onto other cases

Thanks for the info on the case size, I was about to pull the trigger but that really kills the deal of a small, portable socket set for me in an already cramped toolbox.

With 1/4" anvils, do you still need to use impact sockets with an impact wrench, given the relatively low torque output of 1/4" impact wrenches, or is it ok to use standard sockets? Then again, since you're supposed to use impact bits with impact drivers, I imagine that the answer is yes, impact sockets always with impact tools.

Just making sure. Plus, I don't have a 1/4" impact wrench as of yet, just an impact driver with a hex to anvil adapter. But I might pick one up eventually.

Ha, an older neighbor across the street from my parents' home was the only other person I knew that called ten dollar bills "saw bucks." That said, I also have a Dewalt 3/8" in set from some previous SD deal (in black) and it's excellent quality for the price. I do miss the days of Sears Craftsman Made in USA ratchet sets where'd they'd run 1/4" deepwell metric and SAE sets for $10 on sale. I have a few sets, and those are ultra compact, which, as you mention makes this particular DeWalt set stand out for "not using space wisely."

Looks like a nice set for the money, but agree with you that the case is nowhere near as compact as it really could (and should) be. Otherwise, it's a good deal and I gave it a TU.

This set reminds me of an older craftsman set I have and used for years. The drill adapter is super handy and it's amazing how much you can do with these sizes in a 1/4" drive. My craftsman set included a handled socket driver which I recommend you add to this one if you buy it.
As to that wasted space I would figure out how to drop a couple little parts wells there somehow.
Thanks for posting!

Aye, it is one of the many interlocking case designs Dewalt uses. I have 3 sets of tools in these cases and all 3 have an abundance of wasted space in the case.

Semi-related rant: I would love it if Dewalt/SBD would pick an interlocking case design and stick with it for this type of tool set. 🙄

I actually bought the entire line up because of the trays. Although they do take up a little space, it is a great way to stay organized.

I just bought a similar set from Lowes. But the lowes one was missing some sizes that the HomeDepot set has. I recommend this one posted by the OP.

For the amount of torque needed for 1/4" sockets, do you really NEED impact drivers? These kind of bolts tend to be not just small but also tend to be short as well. If you don't have 1/4" impact wrench, I doubt your impact driver's torque is even needed for all sizes of these sockets.

Also, when someone uses 1/4" sockets, it is USUALLY in cramped place needing small socket heads/handles so doubtful that impact wrench will fit in those tight spaces either.

I wouldn't waste my $$ on 1/4" impact wrench (Unless someone gave one to me). That said, do get 1/4" torque wrench as it is so easy to strip/break the heads on small bolts.
