No my friend. Unlike Intel which maxed out to 4 Cores in their U series Processors, even in latest 11th Tiger Lake, despite having higher power consumption and heat generation, Ryzen can have up to 8 Cores and 16 Threads. This 5850U is a 8C/16T CPU which can actually perform similar to Intel's H series 45W CPUs and beat their 10th Gen H series CPUs like i7-10875H while consuming less than 1/3rd of the power and generating a lot less heat.
You can literally use these Processors for any kind of demanding tasks like Video Encoding, huge Code compilation, Huge data calculations in Excels, rendering etc. This processor can be up to 100% more powerful in multithreaded applications than Intel's best 11th Gen CPU 1185G7 or 1195G7.

OP's link is bad.

Click link… scroll down to where it says "System Specs"… to the right it says "View All Models"… and the one OP listed is on the bottom right. Click "See More" under each model to check the specs.

Deal is okay, but I paid $1109 over the weekend for the T14s:

- Ryzen 7 Pro 5850u
- 32gb LPDDR4X 4266MHz
- 14.0" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, touchscreen with Privacy Guard, 500 nits
- .4lbs lighter because carbon fiber, magnesium alloy, aluminum.

**T14 above is plastic and magnesium alloy. (Heavier and thicker).

T14 does have a slot to upgrade ram as well.

I don't see any model with 32GB.

4k 500 nit display & high end Ryzen 7 CPU coupled with a 50 WHr battery sounds very limiting in terms of battery life.
Good eye. Looks like it wouldn't last longer than a few hours

Your understanding about battery life is not entirely correct. You're correct about the 4K Panel as that will always reduce 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs battery life. But Battery life does not depend on whether the processor is "High End" or "Low end" but the actual architecture, manufacturing process and efficiency . Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 2 based Processors are based on TSMC's 7nm node and they are far more efficient that Intel's current gen 10nm node. You will be surprised to know that this processor still consumes less power and generate less heat than a Quad Core intel 1165G7 or 1195G7.
Already know and fully understood. I'm just saying, this particular combination isn't going to have high endurance. Almost guaranteed by the exceptionally small battery for such a combination.

Insanely good deal, especially since you don't have to wait for it, they have it in stock already! Only issue I have is lack of a thunderbolt port (as with all AMD laptops). 4K is pushing it on 14". A lot of Windows applications still don't scale! But this is definitely not a deal breaker in any way.

Have to use Google… SD admins/mods don't appreciate you saving money from anywhere but them.

Have this one with 32 gb of ram and 2 TB of ssd. It is SCREAMING fast, but have had to get a keyboard replacement + looking at a fan replacement. The left click stopped working and they had to send someone out to replace it. Took about 2-3 weeks to get scheduled. Now I am seeing a BIOS boot error for the fan not getting detected.

Outside of those 2 issues, Ubuntu worked minus the network card, had to find a way to get the device drivers for the network card.

Not really happy about the multiple issues in the last 3 months.

Hope this helps someone!

How would this laptop compare with the Deal from Costco, MSI GE76 Raider laptop? Using the laptop for my Oculus VR.
