Mediatek MT8183 processor? How does this compare to say a Celeron? I have this laptop [target.com] from Target, would this be better performance?

A windows laptop with the N4020 is turtle slow. The N4020 in a Chromebook is pretty snappy. If ya don't need Windows for anything, I'd definitely grab a Chromebook.

This is the same chromebook that was 150 at best buy right? Should I wait for price reduction again? It's for my nephew. He's 11 and doesn't have a laptop for school work so I wanna buy him a chromebook as Christmas gift.

That was a good deal at 150. I guess it wont get back to that again.
This is a great price too in my opinion(no other deal matched this price of 169, other than the previous 150 deal, IMO)

I agree with this assessment, I don't think it's going to go down to 150 again anytime soon. Also note, definitely don't buy the non-touch Version of this laptop that Best Buy also sells – it does not have an IPS screen, and I saw it in person at my local Best Buy and it was pretty mediocre.

Hey there, I got the same laptop a few weeks ago. I personally like that it has a backlit keyboard for those late nights working or browsing. The Mediatek CPU is a little snappier, but you would lose Windows.

I beg to differ. I have the Target laptop with the N4020 and Win11, and I find it perfectly fine for casual browsing, coding and general work-related stuff (Word, email, slack, etc). Sure, I don't play games on it, but for $170 I would not expect to.

Good point. Love the backlit keyboard. Did you take your out of S mode? I did because I wanted to install CHrome. Seems a little slower now?

Yes, I did disable S mode, and actually upgraded to Win11 a couple of days later. I didn't use it long enough in S mode to be able to compare its performance to Win11, but like I said here above, I use it for work (Word, Outlook, Slack, Zoom all open at the same time) and casual browsing, and it's perfectly fine for my needs. Again, you can't expect stellar performance on a $170 laptop, but this little guy doesn't disappoint, and the screen is brighter than what I expected.

That's interesting. Same config? (4gb DDR4? 64gb eMMC?) I wonder if a new M2 disk would help. I guess I was lucky then Big Grin

This is a nice Chromebook. Was $150 a few weeks back.

One might want to check and see if one have the Chase offer for Best Buy, 10% back up to $25.

Thanks. I'll probably upgrade to Win 11 and see if I see a difference.

I'd be curious to know how it went...

Is there a huge noticeably difference between this touchscreen and nontouchscreen? I took a look at the non touchscreen in person and from looking at the screen, it looked really dim?
